A surgical portal apparatus includes a sleeve having a proximal end and a distal end that extends along a longitudinal axis, and a surgical tape. The sleeve includes an inner wall defining an internal longitudinal passageway dimensioned for permitting passage of a surgical object therethrough and an outer wall configured for positioning against tissue. The inner and outer walls define at least a partial annular space therebetween, the annular space being in fluid communication with an opening in the outer wall. The surgical tape includes a body portion retained within the annular space of the sleeve and a leading tab extendable through the opening in the outer wall of the sleeve. The surgical tape has a first surface and a second surface, each of the first and second surfaces having at least one of tissue reactive functional groups and self-reactive functional groups.

An applicator for use in tissue repair is provided. The applicator includes a base configured to dispense a material and an applicator tip operably connected to the base. The applicator tip includes a body having a distal end configured to engage a tissue defect and a mold disposed about the body configured to engage tissue about the tissue defect. The mold is configured to be selectively positioned about the distal end of the body between at least a first position and a second position to deposit material to form at least a first layer and a second layer. Also provided are applicator tips, methods and kits for tissue repair.

Biocompatible wound closure devices including an elongate body and a plug member are useful for wound repair. A wound closure device includes an elongate body defining a longitudinal axis and having a proximal end and a distal end, and a plug member having a tissue facing surface and including a first shaped section and a second shaped section, each of the first and second shaped sections having an abutment surface. The first and second shaped sections are movable about a hinge between a collapsed position in which the abutment surfaces extend away from the longitudinal axis of the elongate body and a deployed position in which the abutment surfaces abut and are substantially aligned with the longitudinal axis of the elongate body, the abutment surfaces controlling a deployed angle of the tissue facing surface of the plug member with respect to the elongate body.
