The present invention relates to a multilayer film comprising: • an inner layer system comprising a first surface and a second surface; • a first skin layer bound to the inner layer system at the first surface of the inner layer system; and • a second skin layer bound to the inner layer system at the second surface of the inner layer system; wherein • the inner layer system comprises a first ethylene-based polymer; and • at least one of the first or the second skin layer(s) is a sealing layer and comprises a second ethylene-based polymer having a peak melting temperature Tof at least 10° C. below the Tof the first ethylene-based polymer, Tbeing determined as peak melting temperature in accordance with ASTM D3418 (2008); wherein the multilayer film is a bi-directionally oriented film wherein the orientation is introduced in the solid state. Such film allows for the production of a sealed package having a sufficiently high sealing strength at reduced sealing temperatures, also referred to as the seal initiation temperature.

Bi-directionally oriented multilayer film

The present invention relates to a package comprising a bi-directionally oriented polyethylene film, wherein the bi-directionally oriented film comprises a polymer having moieties derived from ethylene and moieties derived from 1-hexene, wherein the polymer has: (a) a density of ≥910 and ≤930 kg/m3, preferably ≥916 and ≤925 kg/m3, as determined in accordance with ASTM D792 (2008); (b) a melt mass-flow rate of ≥0.2, preferably ≥0.5 or ≥0.6, and ≤5.0 g/10 min, as determined in accordance with ASTM D1238 (2013) at a temperature of 190° C. under a load of 2.16 kg; (c) a fraction that is eluted in analytical temperature rising elution fractionation (a-TREF) at a temperature ≤30.0° C. of ≥8.0 wt %, preferably ≥11.0 wt %, with regard to the total weight of the polymer; and (d) a fraction eluted in a-TREF at a temperature >94.0° C. of ≥20.0 wt %, with regard to the total weight of the polymer; and preferably (e) a fraction eluted in a-TREF at a temperature >30.0° C. and ≤94.0° C. of ≥40.0 and ≤64.0 wt %, with regard to the total weight of the polymer; wherein the package is a bag or pouch containing at least one seal obtained by thermal sealing of two layers of the polyethylene film. Such package allows for handling, in particular opening, in a controlled way such that when a tear is introduced to open the package, that tear can be introduced in a controlled line.

Package comprising a bi-directionally oriented polyethylene film

The present invention relates to a polymer comprising moieties derived from ethylene and moieties derived from 1-hexene, wherein the polymer has: (a) a density of &#x2265;910 and &#x2264;930 kg/mas determined in accordance with ASTM D1505 (2010); (b) a melt mass-flow rate of &#x2265;0.5 and &#x2264;5.0 g/10 min, as determined in accordance with ASTM D1238 (2013) at a temperature of 190&#xb0; C. under a load of 2.16 kg; (c) a fraction that is not eluted in analytical temperature rising elution fractionation (a-TREF) at a temperature &#x3e;30.0&#xb0; C. of &#x2265;8.0 wt %, with regard to the total weight of the polymer; and (d) a fraction eluted in a-TREF at a temperature &#x3e;94.0&#xb0; C. of &#x2265;20.0 wt %, with regard to the total weight of the polymer. Such polymer allows for the production of bi-directionally oriented films having a particularly desirable ability to be stretched at a high stretching ratio, in both the machine direction and in the transverse direction, and particularly to be stretched to a high stretching ratio in the machine direction and the transverse direction combined. Further this polymer allows for production of bi-directionally oriented films within a particularly and desirably broad temperature range in which the stretching can be performed without imparting any deficiencies of hampering the film production processes in continuous film production.

Polymer for production of bi-directionally oriented films

The present invention relates to a multi-layer film comprising at least three layers, with two outer layers, and one core layer, wherein: the core layer comprises an ethylene copolymer comprising 1-octene and having a density between &#x3e;0.910 g/cmand 0.925 g/cm, wherein further the first outer layer comprises an ethylene homopolymer having a density of between &#x3e;0.915 g/cmand 0.930 g/cm, wherein further the second outer layer comprises and optional first ethylene copolymer and a second ethylene copolymer having a density of between 0.850 g/cmand &#x3c;0.890 g/cm. Such film demonstrates improved cling properties and further provides benefits in that a.o. migration of components from this film during storage and use at elevated temperatures is reduced.

The present invention concerns a multi-layer film comprising at least five layers, with two outer layers, two intermediate layers and one core layer, wherein the core layer comprises an ethylene copolymer having a density between &#x2265;0.910 g/cm3 and 0.925 g/cm3, the intermediate layers comprise an ethylene copolymer comprising 1-octene and having a density between &#x3e;0.915 g/cm3 and 0.925 g/cm, wherein further the first outer layer comprises between 65 wt. % and 93 wt. % of a first ethylene copolymer comprising 1-octene and having a density between &#x3e;0.915 g/cm3 and 0.925 g/cmand between 7 wt. % and 35 wt. % of a second ethylene copolymer having a density between &#x3e;0.925 g/cmand 0.945 g/cm3 based on the total weight of polymers of the layer, wherein further the second outer layer comprises between 35 wt. % and 65 wt. % of a first ethylene copolymer comprising 1-octene and having a density between &#x3e;0.915 g/cmand 0.925 g/cmand between 35 wt. % and 65 wt. % of a second ethylene copolymer having a density between 0.850 g/cmand &#x3c;0.915 g/cmbased on the total weight of the polymers of the layer.
