A light emitting device, comprises: a light source that emits excitation light; a light guide that propagates the excitation light, and in which the refractive index of the center part (core) of a cross section is higher than the refractive index of the peripheral part (cladding); a wavelength conversion member that absorbs the excitation light propagated by the light guide and converts the wavelength thereof, and releases light of a predetermined wavelength band; and a shielding member that blocks the wavelength of at least part of the excitation light and the light emitted from the wavelength conversion member.

Light emitting device

In a semiconductor light-emitting device, light from a laser diode is output to the outside after the luminance of the light being enhanced. It includes a support body provided with lead terminals, one or more laser diodes mounted on the support body, a cylindrical reflector fixed to the support body to surround the laser diode(s) and provided with a light reflection surface formed on an inner surface thereof, and a cap placed to cover an opening distal end face of the reflector and held at an opening distal end part of the reflector, the cap being provided at a central part thereof with a solid fluorescent member including a fluorescent substance that is excited by the light from the laser diode and emits light different in colors from light emitted by the laser diode.

Light-emitting device

A light emitting device includes an excitation light source that emits excitation light, a wavelength conversion member, a light guide, and a light guide distal end member. The wavelength conversion member absorbs the excitation light emitted from the excitation light source, converts its wavelength, and releases light of a predetermined wavelength band. The light guide in which the center part (core) of its cross section has a refractive index that is higher than the refractive index of the peripheral portion (cladding) guides the excitation light emitted from the excitation light source to the wavelength conversion member. The light guide distal end member supports a distal end of the light guide on the wavelength conversion member side. The light guide distal end member is formed from a material that reflects the excitation light and/or the light that has undergone wavelength conversion.

An optical component that can be attached to an end portion of an optical guiding member, and a light converting member used in the optical component. The optical component comprises a cap having an engaging portion defining a bore engaged with an end member of a light guiding member, and an arranging portion defining a opening connected to the bore in the engaging portion, and a light converting member disposed in the opening formed in the arranging portion.

Optical component, light converting member, and light emitting device

The light emitting apparatus according to the present invention includes a light source; and an optical component including a fixed member having a through hole, and a wavelength conversion member having at least one part thereof arranged in the through hole, a cut-in part or a hole part being formed in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the through hole of the fixed member; where the light from the light source is guided to the wavelength conversion member.

There is provided a light emitting device using an optical component capable of emitting light having a wavelength different from that of light exit from an optical fiber and obtaining light of high output, and capable of being easily attached to an end of the optical fiber. The optical component includes an optical fiber holding member for holding an optical fiber, a light conversion member, and a cap having an inner hole allowing the light conversion member and the optical fiber holding member to be inserted into and an engagement part with an opening for engaging inserted members at one end of the inner hole. The light conversion member inserted into the inner hole of the cap is fitted into the inner hole with the optical fiber holding member pressed against the engagement part. The opening of the engagement part is smaller than a maximum diameter of the light conversion member.

Optical component and light emitting device using the same

An optical component comprises: an optical fiber having the core and the clad; a light guide holding member attached to the exit end of the optical fiber; a wavelength conversion member that contains a fluorescent substance; and a reflection means provided between the exit end of the optical fiber and the wavelength conversion member, or between the light guide holding member and the wavelength conversion member. An increase in optical output is made possible not by reducing reflection as with conventional optical components, but on the contrary by actually producing reflection. Therefore, optical output can be increased by a means other than forming an optical film that reduces Fresnel reflection.

Optical component, light emitting device, and method for manufacturing optical component

The present invention provides a light emitting device comprising: an excitation light source which radiates excitation light; a wavelength converting member which absorbs and converts the wavelength of at least part of the excitation light radiated from the excitation light source, and releases light with a predetermined wavelength band; a light guide for guiding the excitation light radiated from the excitation light source to the wavelength converting member, with one end at the excitation light source and the other end at the wavelength converting member, wherein the refractive index of the cross-sectional center region (core) is higher than that of the circumferential region (clad); and a thermally conductive transparent film which contacts with the wavelength converting member.

A light emitting device includes a first unit having a first excitation light source including a laser element emitting blue wavelength band excitation light, and a first wavelength converting member including at least one type of fluorescent material and which absorbs at least a portion of a first excitation light, converts the wavelength, and releases light with a wavelength longer than the first excitation light, and a second unit having a second excitation light source including a laser element which emits excitation light with a wavelength band shorter than the blue wavelength band excitation light, and a second wavelength converting member which includes at least one type of fluorescent material and which absorbs at least a portion of a second excitation light, converts the wavelength, and releases light with a wavelength longer than the second excitation light. The first unit and the second unit are combined using a bundle fiber.

Light emitting portion of an optical fiber lighting apparatus

A light emitting device comprises a first unit and a second unit, the first unit comprising: a first excitation light source comprising a laser element emitting blue wavelength band excitation light; a first wavelength converting member comprising at least one type of fluorescent material and which absorbs at least a portion of a first excitation light emitted from the first excitation light source, converts the wavelength, and releases light with a wavelength longer than the first excitation light; and a first light guide which has a refractive index in the center region of the cross-section which is higher than the refractive index of the surrounding region and which transmits the first excitation light emitted from the first excitation light source; and the second unit comprising: a second excitation light source comprising a laser element which emits excitation light with a wavelength band shorter than the blue wavelength band excitation light emitted by the laser element; a second wavelength converting member which is similar of the above; and a second light guide which is similar of the above.

A light emitting device, comprises at least: a light emitting element; a wavelength conversion member for converting the wavelength of light from the light emitting element; a bendable light guide member for guiding light from the light emitting element to the wavelength conversion member; and a heat conduction member that is thermally connected to the wavelength conversion member.

The optical component according to the present invention includes a fixed member including a through hole, and a wavelength conversion member having at least one part thereof arranged in the through hole, where the fixed member is formed with a cut-in part or a hole part in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the through hole.
