A fuel pump includes an impeller and a cover. The impeller includes a ring portion, which is annular and is placed radially outward of blades. The cover has an arcuate pump flow passage. An enlarged space is formed in a cover side slide surface of the cover. The enlarged space is communicated with the pump flow passage and has an axial gap size, which is axially measured between an axial bottom surface of the enlarged space and an axial end surface of the ring portion and is larger than that of an axial slide gap between the slide surface and the axial end surface of the ring portion.

Fuel pump with axial slide gap

A fuel pump includes a housing including an internally-large cylindrical portion coaxial with an internally-small cylindrical portion. A press-inserted portion is press-inserted to the internally-small cylindrical portion. An accommodating cylindrical portion is located in the internally-large cylindrical portion. An accommodating disc portion is opposed to the impeller. A cover is in contact with the accommodating cylindrical portion on the opposite side of the accommodating disc portion. The accommodating disc portion has an impeller-side surface abutted to the accommodating cylindrical portion via an accommodating corner. The outer circumferential periphery of the press-inserted portion has an axial end defining a press-inserted corner on the side of the accommodating cylindrical portion. The accommodating corner is distant from the press-inserted corner for a first distance. The outer circumferential periphery of the press-inserted portion has an axially center portion being distant from the impeller-side surface for a second distance.

Fuel pump having impeller

A fuel pump includes an impeller and a passage member having a pump passage around the impeller, a fuel suction port and a fuel discharge port. The pump passage includes an arc-shaped fuel passage connected to the suction port and a terminal fuel passage connected to the discharge port. The discharge port is located outside the pump passage in the radial direction, and the terminal fuel passage is formed so that a portion of the terminal fuel passage is located radially more outside as the portion of the terminal fuel passage moves in the rotation direction of the impeller. The sectional area of the terminal fuel passage except spaces occupied by the impeller is approximately constant to prevent flow energy loss.

Impeller type fuel pump

An impeller has a plurality of blades at an outer periphery thereof. Each of the adjacent blades define a groove space, and a partition wall is provided in the groove space. The partition wall is disposed at a center area of the groove space in an axial direction of the impeller for partitioning the groove space from a root of the blade. The blade inclines backwardly in the rotating direction at the root side thereof, and inclines frontwardly in the rotating direction at a radial outer end side thereof. A front face is inwardly concaved from both axial ends, and warps from the root to the radial outer end of the blade to form the concave such that the concave gradually becomes small from the root to the radial outer end.

Fuel pump for internal combustion engine

The present invention provides a regenerative pump for supplying fuel into an injection device for an internal combustion engine. The regenerative pump has a longer pressurizing passage and a slanted discharge port connected thereto and formed at an outer periphery thereof. The pressure loss in the pump is small because the fuel flows smoothly into the discharge port from the pressurizing passage, and accordingly the efficiency of the pump is high and the pump can be made small in size at the same time.

Regenerative pump

An in-tank type fuel pump which can easily be installed and reduces the vibration caused by the fuel pump. The fuel pumped up by a pump part passes through a filter to have foreign matter contained therein removed. Then, the fuel flows from a fuel passage, through an opening part in a cap, into a recessed part and a second fuel passage. The fuel that has flowed into the second fuel passage lifts a check valve and flows into the recessed part. Then, the fuel flows through a third fuel passage to a discharge pipe, and then is guided to the outside of the fuel tank. A ball moves within a large-diameter passage according to the fuel pressure to regulate the fuel pressure required for fuel injection. When the fuel pumping is ceased, the fuel pressure falls to 0, and therefore the ball is forced to contact a valve seat by the spring force of a compression coil spring. Then, the head part of the check valve is forced to contact a valve seat to block the fuel passage. As a result, the residual fuel pressure can be maintained downstream from the recessed part.

Fuel supply device

A regenerative pump includes a casing which a recessed fluid flow passage interconnecting a suction port and a discharge port is formed in an arcuate shape. An impeller is provided rotatably with respect to the casing and formed with a plurality of vane members which face the recessed fluid flow passage. A recessed damping portion is formed in a terminal end portion of the recessed fluid flow passage on a discharge port side thereof to begin at a position corresponding to the discharge port and extend along a rotating direction of the impeller. The recessed damping portion has a depth which is smaller than that of a main depth of the recessed fluid flow passage and substantially constant.
