An air-fuel ratio of an air-fuel mixture produced by fuel injected from a first injector into an intake port (or into a combustion chamber) is set in a range of 28 to 38. Therefore, when the temperature and pressure rise with a first combustion started by spark-ignition around a spark plug to the fuel injected from a second injector into the combustion chamber, the timing of starting a second compressive hypergolic ignition is optimized to provide a stable combustion state free of knocking and misfire.

Internal combustion engine and fuel injection method in internal combustion engine

An EGR control system that is capable of controlling the amount of recirculation of high-temperature and low-temperature recirculated gases, with high accuracy, to thereby improve the control accuracy of in-cylinder temperature. An ECU of an ERG control system calculates a fresh intake air ratio, and sets a target value of the fresh intake air ratio. The ECU calculates a feedback correction coefficient for converging the fresh intake air ratio to the target value, with an I-PD control algorithm, and sets an external EGR ratio and an internal EGR ratio. The ECU controls the EGR amount whose ratio is the larger, according to the larger one of the two ratios and the feedback correction coefficient, and controls the EGR amount whose ratio is the smaller, according to the smaller of the ratios and the learned value thereof.

EGR control system for internal combustion engine

An engine valve train having a camshaft supported on a camshaft holder and driving inlet valves to open and close via inlet rocker arms; an electromagnetic actuator mechanism including an armature; a holding rod connected to the armature and pressing against a stem end of the inlet valve so as to hold the inlet valve in an open state; and, a hydraulic damper mechanism absorbing an impact which is generated by the inlet valve when the inlet valve is released from being held by the electromagnetic actuator mechanism so as to be restored to a closed state and is then seated, wherein the hydraulic damper mechanism is supported on the camshaft holder.

The invention provides an electromagnetic driving valve of an internal combustion engine provided with a significantly compact shock absorbing means which can reduce an impact sound and a vibration in a contact portion between a first transmission shaft and a second transmission shaft and reduce an impact sound and a vibration generated at a time when a valve portion sits on an intake and exhaust port at a time of closing a valve. A shock absorbing means ( ) is provided between a first transmission shaft ( ) extended upward from a valve portion ( ) and a second transmission shaft ( ) extended on the same axis thereof and supporting a movable plate ( ) between a pair of electromagnets ( ). Electromagnetic driving valve of internal combustion engine

There is provided a solenoid actuator which is easy to carry out wiring work for coils thereof, and at the same time allows reduction of manufacturing costs through common application of a fixed wiring. A solenoid actuator is supplied with electric power from a power source, for generating an electromagnetic force to drive a driven member such that the driven member performs reciprocating motion. Two electromagnets each have a coil and arranged such that they are opposed to each other and spaced from each other. An armature is connected to the driven member, and arranged between the two electromagnets, for performing reciprocating motion in accordance with energization and deenergization of the two electromagnets to thereby drive the driven member such that the driven member performs the reciprocating motion. Two terminals are connected to opposite ends of said coil of said each of said two electromagnets, and arranged such that the two terminals protrude outward from each of the two electromagnets, respectively. A connector has four metal connectors electrically connectible to the power source. Each two of the metal connectors are connected to the terminals of the each of the two electromagnets, by effecting engagement between the each two of the metal connectors and the two terminals of the each of the two electromagnets in a direction parallel to a direction of the reciprocating motion of the armature.

Solenoid actuator

A core of a solenoid actuator is provided which is improved in durability, and at the same time ensures high energy efficiency of the solenoid actuator. The core of the solenoid actuator attracts an armature during operation of the solenoid actuator. A plurality of core plates are formed of a magnetically soft material and laminated in a predetermined direction orthogonal to a direction of attracting the armature to form a laminated stack. The core plates form magnetic circuits between the armature and the core plates themselves during the operation of the solenoid actuator. Two core holders formed of a non-magnetic material sandwiches the laminated stack of the plurality of core plates from opposite sides along the predetermined direction. The plurality of core plates are each coated with insulating film, which insulate adjacent two core plates from each other. Further, a rod formed of a non-magnetic material rigidly secures the plurality of core plates and the two core holders to each other to form a unitary assembly. The plurality of core plates are each formed with at least one projection projecting outward from a surface thereof and at least one recess formed in a reverse side of the at least one projection. The at least one projection of one of the each adjacent two core plates is fitted in the at least one recess of another of the each adjacent two core plates such that the each adjacent two core plates are inhibited from relative movement with respect to each other in the direction of attracting the armature.

Core of solenoid actuator

A core of a solenoid actuator is provided which is improved in durability and at the same time ensures high energy efficiency of the solenoid actuator. The core of the solenoid actuator attracts an armature during operation of the solenoid actuator. A plurality of core plates are formed of a magnetically soft material and laminated in a predetermined direction orthogonal to a direction of attracting the armature to form a laminated stack. The core plates form magnetic circuits between the armature and the core plates themselves during the operation of the solenoid actuator. Two core holders formed of a non-magnetic material sandwiches the laminated stack of the plurality of core plates from opposite sides along the predetermined direction. The plurality of core plates are each coated with insulating film, which insulate adjacent two core plates from each other. Further, a rod formed of a non-magnetic material rigidly secures the plurality of core plates and the two core holders to each other to form a unitary assembly.

A valve operating system for an internal combustion engine includes a valve-opening electromagnet and a valve-closing electromagnet for exhibiting an electromagnetic force for attracting an armature to operate an engine valve, and a valve-opening resilient means and a valve-closing resilient means for maintaining the armature at a predetermined neutral position during deenergization of the electromagnets. In each electromagnet, a coil is inserted between inner and outer yokes which are disposed in the form of a double-cylinder such that they open at their ends opposed to the armature and are magnetically coupled to each other at their ends opposite from the armature, and the coil is positioned so that the coil protrudes from at least one of the yokes toward the armature. The armature has an annular accommodating portion provided in a surface thereof opposed to each the electromagnets and capable of accommodating that portion of the coil which protrudes from the yoke. With such a structure, it is possible to increase the electromagnetic attracting force of each of the electromagnets and to enhance the performance of the engine.

Valve operating system in internal combustion engine

An internal combustion engine includes a valve operating device operatively connected to a pair of intake valves and capable of opening and closing one of the intake valves in accordance with the operating condition of the engine and opening and closing the other intake valve in a small lift amount, thereby producing a deflection of the intake air drawn into the combustion chamber, and a fuel injection valve for injecting a fuel toward the pair of intake valve bores that are independently opened and closed by the intake valves, respectively. The timing of the opening and closing of the intake valve that is opened and closed only in the small lift amount is set at a time point such that the lift amount is maximized in the first half of the intake stroke of the piston. This promotes the atomization of the fuel which is being drawn in with the intake air by the opening of the intake valve opened and closed in the small lift amount, and to enhance the combustibility in the combustion chamber.

Internal combustion engine

A valve operating system in a multicylinder internal combustion engine, including an air pressure chamber biasing each engine valve in a closed direction thereof. The air pressure chambers are formed in a member positioned between the engine valves and the cam shaft and the member is formed with an air supply passage connected to the air pressure chambers for supplying air thereto and a relief passage connected to the air pressure chambers for releasing air therefrom. Air relief valves are provided in the member for individually releasing air from the air pressure chambers to the relief passage. A pressure control valve is connected to the relief passage for controlling pressure in the air pressure chambers for improving the accuracy of the operation of the relief valves and the control of the pressure in each the plurality of air pressure chambers.

Valve operating system for internal combustion engine

A piston for an internal combustion engine is disclosed which comprises a piston main body having an opening in the top surface thereof and a cavity forming member having a combustion chamber form the top surface thereof which is mounted in the opening of the piston main body. The diameter of the cavity forming member is less then the diameter of the piston main body and the top surface of the cavity forming member is in alignment with the top surface of the piston main body. A piston pin is mounted in the piston main body and the cavity forming member is supported by the piston pin. Further a connecting rod is connected to the piston pin whereby the connecting rod is coupled to the main piston body.
