A carbon monoxide removing catalyst whose catalytic activity is higher than conventional carbon-monoxide-methanation-reaction catalyst comprising an oxide support containing an oxide containing Co and Zr, and a Ru, Pt, Rh and/or Pd noble metal catalyst loaded on the oxide support, capable of removing carbon monoxide by means of carbon monoxide methanation reaction. The carbon monoxide removing catalyst has higher catalytic activity with respect to carbon monoxide methanation at low temperatures, compared with carbon monoxide removing catalysts which use oxides of Zr&#x2014;Fe, Zr&#x2014;Mn, and the like, or zirconia, as the support. A number-of-atom ratio of Co/Zr can be 1/3 or more and 3/1 or less.

A fuel reformer suited for mounting on a vehicle is provided. A raw material gas containing methanol and water is vaporized at a vaporization section The vaporized gas flows horizontally to a reforming section with monolithic catalyst The reforming section is divided into two sides, a front side and a rear side with an interconnecting pipe bent at 180 degrees, for connecting the front and rear sides. By making the material gas flow horizontally, even when the reformer is mounted to a vehicle which has a larger space in its horizontal direction than in its vertical direction, especially a small passenger car, the contact time period between gas and catalyst can be extended. By bending the reforming section by 180 degrees, the size of the reformer can be reduced so that the reformer is suited for mounting on a vehicle having limited space. Because the vaporization section and the CO reducing section can be placed adjacent to each other, by using heat generated at the CO reducing section, the heat loss during pre-heating of the methanol and water can be reduced.

Fuel reformer for mounting on a vehicle

The invention is directed to an arrangement for providing an automatic steering control and restraining a steering wheel from being rotated in case of the automatic steering control. A rack is mounted on the vehicle to be laterally movable with respect thereto and linked to a main shaft of a steering wheel. A lateral shaft is disposed to be laterally movable with and with respect to the rack and linked at its opposite ends to steerable wheels of the vehicle. Relative positions of the rack and lateral shaft are adjusted by an adjusting device. An electromagnetic clutch is disposed to restrain at least one of the rack and the main shaft from being moved with a frictional force applied thereto in case of the automatic steering control. Consequently, the steering wheel is not rotated in the automatic steering control, while the steering wheel can be rotated manually against the frictional force.
