An image forming apparatus includes an image bearer; a cleaning unit configured to remove waste toner on the image bearer; a waste toner container configured to be detachably attached to the image forming apparatus and to store the waste toner removed by the cleaning device; and a support member configured to support the waste toner container. The support member is provided with a guide unit thereon that guides the waste toner container in attachment and detachment directions, the guide unit includes a side guide plate that guides each of sides of the waste toner container in the attachment and detachment directions, a guide plate arranged on entrance side of the side guide plate in the attachment direction of the waste toner container, and the guide plate includes an inclined guide surface that guides the waste toner container onto the support member.

A waste toner conveying device for conveying waste toner removed from an image carrier to a waste toner container includes a waste toner conveying path including at least a falling and conveying path for letting the waste toner fall under its own weight; a toner bridging prevention member configured to move in the falling and conveying path to prevent bridging of the waste toner; a drive source configured to drive the toner bridging prevention member; a drive transfer member configured to transfer a driving force from the drive source to the toner bridging prevention member; and a toner adhesion prevention member configured to prevent the waste toner from adhering to the drive transfer member.

An image forming apparatus having an apparatus body includes an image carrying body carrying an image, a transfer body which is provided in the apparatus body and to which the image is transferred, a first opening and closing member, a second opening and closing member, and a movement mechanism. The first opening and closing member is rotatable so as to open and close an opening of the apparatus body. The transfer body is detachable from the apparatus body through the opening. The second opening and closing member, which is displaceable relative to the first opening and closing member, together with the first opening and closing member opens and closes the opening in conjunction with opening and closing operations of the first opening and closing member. The movement mechanism causes the second opening and closing member to move in a direction away from the transfer body.

The image input unit comprises a pixel shift evaluation value and reliability calculating section that calculates a pixel shift evaluation value based on image data for a plurality of images photographed before and after an image sensing device is displaced for a predetermined amount. Moreover, a system controller judges whether pixel shift photography has been normally performed or not based on the pixel shift evaluation value, and displays the judgment result on a display.

An apparatus for modifying a traveling position of a paper web in a paper web processing machine is provided. The apparatus is capable of easily attaching a detection means; requiring no operation of the paper web processing machine to determine an accurately adjusted position for attachment; and extremely easily setting a desired size of a tolerable deviation range of a practical position of a side edge to an originally expected position of the side edge when the sheet travels. The apparatus includes a traveling position modification means for modifying a position of a side edge of a paper web traveling toward a processing section in a paper web processing machine; a detection means for detecting the position of the side edge of the paper web; and a control means connected to the modification means and the detection means for controlling the modification means based on a value detected at the detection means.

A camera which imprints alphanumeric messages on the film. The camera allows a user to view, in the order of most frequently used, the messages which can be imprinted. In order to reduce the cost of the camera, there is a dot matrix LCD display which can only display a limited number of characters which is less than the total number of characters of the largest message. After a user takes a picture, the dot matrix display scrolls through the message which has been imprinted on the film so that the user can confirm that the correct message has been imprinted. The speed at which the characters are scrolled or displayed is determined based on the total number of characters of the message. As an alternative to scrolling, the characters can be displayed one or two at a time. As an alternative, instead of displaying the alpha-numerical characters of the message, a graphical indication is given that some type of information has been imprinted on the film. The duration at which this confirmation of message imprinting is displayed or scrolled corresponds to the length of the message in order to give the user some indication of the message.
