A line transition device that includes a waveguide and a microstrip line. The microstrip line is substantially orthogonal to an electromagnetic wave propagation direction in the waveguide. A choke groove crosses the microstrip line. A coupling conductor provided at a tip of the microstrip line is positioned at a terminal end of and inside the waveguide. A slit-like region where a ground conductor is not formed is substantially orthogonal to the electromagnetic wave propagation direction in the waveguide. A longitudinal length of the slit-like region is substantially equal to a quarter of the wavelength of electromagnetic waves. The slit-like region is provided such that it extends from an end of a ground conductor near a boundary between the coupling conductor and the microstrip line to reach the choke groove.

Line transition device, high-frequency module, and communication apparatus

A line converter includes ground conductors, a transmission-line conductor and a coupling-line conductor disposed on a dielectric substrate. A dielectric-filled waveguide includes a lower conductor plate, an upper conductor plate, a lower dielectric strip, and an upper dielectric strip, where the dielectric substrate is sandwiched between the lower conductor plate and the lower dielectric strip, and the upper conductor plate and the upper conductor strip, so that a conductor portion S that is part of the ground conductors of the dielectric substrate defines a shield area of the dielectric-filled waveguide. The coupling-line conductor is coupled to a standing wave generated by the shield area, at a position where the electric-field intensity of the standing wave is high. Subsequently, a plane circuit can be arranged so as to be substantially parallel to the direction in which an electromagnetic wave propagates through the three-dimensional waveguide. Further, the dielectric substrate can be easily machined and the characteristic of coupling between the plane circuit and the three-dimensional waveguide provided on the dielectric substrate is prevented from being affected by the precision of assembling the plane circuit and the three-dimensional waveguide so that a line-conversion characteristic according to a predetermined design can be easily obtained.

Line converter for coupling standing waves to a shield area of a three dimensional waveguide

The present invention provides a line transition and a method for manufacturing the same. The line transition is constructed such that a planar circuit can be arranged in the direction parallel to the propagation direction of electromagnetic waves propagating through a solid waveguide, the coupling characteristics of the solid waveguide with the planar circuit formed on a dielectric substrate are not influenced by the assembly precision of the waveguide and the circuit, and the line transition characteristics are not affected by a variation in manufacturing the dielectric substrate. Notches are formed at the edges of the dielectric substrate in the vicinities of coupled-line pattern segments formed on a dielectric substrate. The notches are formed by punching through holes in a ceramic green sheet serving as a motherboard, firing the motherboard, and cutting the motherboard using dicing lines passing through the through holes.

A directional coupler includes a conductor pattern formed on a substrate. The conductor pattern includes first to fourth lines radially extending from a predetermined point on the substrate, and conductive pattern portions. Each line has a first point a first distance from the predetermined point, and a second point a second distance from the predetermined point, wherein the first and second distances have different values. Respective first or second points of adjacent lines are connected by curves, straight lines, or bent lines with obtuse angles, and the crossing angle defined at an intersection of the connecting lines and edges of adjacent lines is obtuse. The conductive pattern portions are defined by the first to fourth lines and the connecting lines. The conductive pattern portions break degeneracy of a plurality of resonant modes.

Directional coupler and high-frequency circuit device

A waveguide, a high-frequency circuit, and a high-frequency circuit device having the waveguide are provided. The waveguide includes two conductor plates each of which has a surface having a groove. At least one of the conductor plates has protrusions extending from the surface at both sides of the groove. The two conductor plates are in contact with each other such that the grooves face each other. Screws disposed between the protrusions and bumps, which are formed outside the protrusions on the conductor plate, fasten the conductor plates with a predetermined pressure.

Waveguide, high-frequency circuit, and high-frequency circuit device

In a high-frequency transmission line that is used in a high-frequency band such as the microwave band or the millimeter wave band, at least one resistive film is disposed in a plane that is substantially perpendicular to an electric field of an operating transmission mode, and the resistive film attenuates, by dielectric loss, an unwanted mode having an electric field that is perpendicular to the electric field of the operating transmission mode.

In a transmission line assembly, a dielectric plate has a continuous protruding portion on at least one of the surfaces thereof so as to form a convex section, electrodes are formed on both of the surfaces of the dielectric plate including the outer surface of the protruding portion, and a plurality of through holes, each electrically interconnecting the electrodes formed on both of the surfaces of the dielectric plate, is arrayed on each side along the protruding portion. Accordingly, the space surrounded by the electrodes and the arrayed through holes operates as a transmission line in a mode equivalent to TE10 mode.

Transmission line assembly, integrated circuit, and transmitter-receiver apparatus comprising a dielectric waveguide protuding for a dielectric plate

In a transmission line, protrusions extend in line one after another in a direction perpendicular to the cross section in a part of a dielectric substrate, with a discontinuous portion therebetween. A lower-surface electrode is formed on a main surface of the dielectric substrate provided with the protrusions and on the outer surfaces of the protrusions. An upper-surface electrode is formed on substantially the whole area of the surface opposite to the lower-surface electrode. Further, a plurality of through-holes for connecting the lower-surface electrode and the upper-surface electrode, which are formed on both surfaces of the dielectric substrate, are aligned on both sides of the protrusions along the direction in which the protrusions extend. Also, coplanar lines and a circuit element are mounted on the upper-surface electrode. The coplanar lines are coupled at a predetermined position to a transmission path formed by the protrusions.

Transmission line, integrated circuit, and transmitter receiver

A dielectric waveguide designed to avoid the influence of reflection of electromagnetic waves at connected portions of dielectric strips and to have an improved characteristic. The distance L between connection planes between pairs of dielectric strips adjacent in the direction of propagation of an electromagnetic wave is set to an odd number multiple of &frac14; of the guide wavelength. Reflected waves are thereby superposed in phase opposition to each other to cancel out. In this manner, propagation of a reflected signal to ports is limited.

In a non-radiative dielectric line, slots opposing each other are respectively formed on two conductive plates and a dielectric strip is disposed within both the slots to form a NRD guide. Convex portions &ldquo;P&rdquo; protruding in the lateral direction to the propagating direction of an electromagnetic wave are formed at a predetermined position of the dielectric strip while concave portions &ldquo;H&rdquo; are formed on internal surfaces of the slots in the conductive plates and so as to mate the both of them with each other. Variations in characteristics due to the positional slippage of the dielectric strip and so forth are prevented, and even when the dielectric strip is produced by machining, etc., the process is easily performed. Characteristics as a transmission line are also maintained without disturbing the electromagnetic field distribution in a mode to be propagated.

Non-radiative dielectric line including convex or concave portion, and integrated circuit comprising the non-radiative dielectric line

A dielectric line converter which includes a dielectric stripline; an upper conductor surface and a lower conductor surface sandwiching the dielectric stripline; the upper and lower conductor surfaces having a first spacing in a first region along the dielectric stripline so as to form a first-kind dielectric line, a second spacing which is substantially zero in a second region so as to form a second-kind dielectric line, and a third spacing which is less than the first spacing in a line conversion region between the first and second regions. Grooves may be formed in the opposing surfaces of the upper and lower conductor surfaces, and the dielectric stripline may be arranged in the grooves. Impedance matching between the first-kind and second-kind dielectric lines is arranged n the line conversion region. The length of the line conversion portion may be set to be an odd multiple of &lgr;/4.

Dielectric line converter, dielectric line unit, directional coupler, high-frequency circuit mobile, and transmitter-receiver

A dielectric waveguide designed to avoid the influence of reflection of electromagnetic waves at connected portions of dielectric strips and to have an improved characteristic. A third dielectric strip is inserted in a part of a connection section at which a first dielectric strip and a second dielectric strip are connected to each other, and the distances between the three connection planes in said connection section are determined so that a wave reflected at the connection plane between the first and third dielectric strips, a wave reflected at the connection plane between the first and second dielectric strips, and a wave reflected at the connection plane between the second and third dielectric strips are superposed with a phase difference of 2&pgr;/3 from each other. Alternatively or in addition, the distance between the first-second dielectric strip connection plane and the first-third dielectric strip connection plane is set to &frac16; of the guide wavelength of an electromagnetic wave propagating through the dielectric strips, and the distance between the first-second dielectric strip connection plane and the second-third dielectric strip connection plane is set to &frac16; of the guide wavelength. Reflected waves are thereby superposed in phase opposition to each other to cancel out. In this manner, propagation of a reflected signal to ports is limited.

Dielectric waveguide comprising connected dielectric strips

In a dielectric transmission line device and a radio device using a dielectric transmission line device, an output matching circuit is constructed in a simplified fashion and an output signal of a frequency multiplier is output via a dielectric transmission line. The frequency multiplier is constructed in a small form in the dielectric transmission line device so as to obtain a dielectric transmission line device with a small total size and also obtain a small-sized high-efficiency radio device using such a dielectric transmission line device as a transmission line for transmitting a transmission signal. An input matching circuit is disposed between an input terminal and an FET for generating a harmonic. An open-ended transmission line is also provided which is coupled with an electromagnetic field of a dielectric transmission line in the form of a dielectric strip.

Frequency multiplier, dielectric transmission line device and radio device

A dielectric line switch is provided which is capable of easily controlling the propagation of an electromagnetic wave. Also provided is an antenna device employing said dielectric line switch. As an embodiment of the invention, a plurality of dielectric lines and a plurality of primary radiators are provided on a rotary unit. With the rotation of the rotary unit, the dielectric lines are switched ON and OFF by virtue of mechanical means, so that a desired change-over may be effected among the plurality of primary radiators in a time sharing manner, and the positions of the primary radiators may be shifted within a plane of the focal point of a dielectric lens, thereby enabling the transmission wave beam and/or reception wave beam to scan in a desired manner.
