An image forming apparatus includes: a photosensitive member; a plurality of development devices attachable to and detachable from a main body of the image forming apparatus, a motor; and a drive transmission member. Each development device includes a development roller for forming a toner image on a surface of the photosensitive member. The motor is rotatable forward and backward, for driving the development roller. The drive transmission member is disposed between the motor and the development roller. The drive transmission member includes a plurality of gears, a plurality of shafts and a plurality of one-way clutches. An air gap is provided in at least one engagement portion where the gears engage with the shafts.

According to an aspect of the invention, an image forming apparatus comprises: a manuscript reading device reading a manuscript and converting the manuscript into an image signal; a recording device printing on paper; at least one rotating support member connecting the manuscript reading device and the recording device, and a wiring housing member housing the electrical wiring. The recording device is electrically connected to the manuscript reading device by an electrical wiring. The rotating support member is configured so as to rotate the manuscript reading device relative to the recording device. The wiring housing member is positioned different from the rotating support member.

A picture image forming apparatus including a photoreceptor belt driven by a drive device, a plurality of developing devices for forming toner picture images on the photoreceptor belt, an intermediate transfer device, to a surface of which toner picture images on the photoreceptor belt are overlappingly transferred plural times when a picture image is to be formed on a single page, and a transfer roller for pushing a sheet against the intermediate transfer device in order to transfer toner picture images to the sheet. The intermediate transfer device is an intermediate transfer belt contacted by the photoreceptor belt to be driven thereby. A photoreceptor-side roller enables contact of the intermediate transfer belt and the photoreceptor belt, and the intermediate transfer belt is trained around the photoreceptor-side roller and a transfer-side roller for pushing the sheet against the transfer roller. A diameter d2 of the transfer-side roller is smaller than a diameter d1 of the photoreceptor-side roller.

An ink jet printer is of a small size and is capable of printing high-quality images, wherein an ink with a colorant dispersed in a solvent is ejected in a direction lower than a horizontal level and is adhered to a surface of a recording medium. The recording medium is conveyed while being spaced a constant distance from ink ejecting electrodes, thereby stabilizing an electric field induced between the ink ejecting electrodes and the recording medium and stabilizing the amount of the ink ejected.

An ink jet recording apparatus has a head substrate, a jetting member disposed on the substrate, a recording electrode disposed so as to sandwich the jetting member and for making ink jet from the jetting member, and a separating wall for covering the recording electrode, wherein the ink is supplied from the proximal end of the jetting member and recovered in an upward direction from near the tip end of the jetting member. According to such an arrangement, it becomes possible to prevent the recording electrode from being clogged with ink adhering at the tip end thereof, and thus, the locus of the ink drop jetted from the head can be prevented from being deviated due to deviation of the jetting point on the jetting member. Accordingly, it becomes possible to provide an ink jet recording apparatus which is capable of printing an image with a high definition.

A color printer has a data extension means, a color correction means, a gamma correction means, a first halftoning means, an image area segmentation means, and a second halftoning means. A high-speed image forming method and apparatus is capable of directly controlling a toner by the force of an energy beam. Selected toner particles in a mass of toner adhering to the surface of a transparent drum are irradiated with a laser beam emitted by a laser disposed within the transparent drum and controlled for scanning according to image information. The laser beam separates the selected toner particles from the transparent drum by the force it produces on the particles, and then the separated toner particles are moved to a paper sheet by the force of an electric field produced by a developing electrode. Each toner particle need only be irradiated with the light for a comparatively short period of time, so that an image can be formed at high speed.
