A sheet feeding apparatus includes a stacking member having a separation unit and an opening portion disposed upstream from the separation unit, a feeding member, and a moving device that includes a slope portion having a slope along which sheets are guided toward the separation unit. The moving device moves the stacking member between a first position where the feeding member and sheets stacked on the stacking member are in contact with each other, and a second position where the feeding member and the sheets are not in contact with each other. When the stacking member is at the first position, the slope portion is disposed at a position lower than the separation unit in a vertical direction. When the stacking member is at the second position, the slope portion is disposed to protrude via the opening portion to be higher than a stacking surface of the stacking member.

Sheet feeding apparatus and image forming apparatus

A sheet feeding device includes a sheet stacking unit to stack a plurality of sheets, a feeding unit to feed sheets stacked on the sheet stacking unit, a separation unit, and a moving unit provided with at least a first moving member and a second moving member. The separation unit contacts the sheets fed by the feeding unit and separates a sheet from the sheets. The moving unit contacts the first and the second moving members to move a sheet contacting the first and the second moving members to an upstream side in a feeding direction. A leading edge of the sheet is positioned between the separation unit and the feeding unit. When pressed by the sheet, the first and the second moving members are configured to thrust-move independently of each other.

A cut-out is provided in a lower guide so as to permit a return claw to move between a retracted position and a protruded position. Furthermore, an upper surface of the return claw positioned in the protruded position functions as a guide portion that guides an underside of a sheet that has been manually fed.

A sheet conveying apparatus includes a restricting portion provided on a second roller side with respect to a sheet conveying path and near a nip portion. This restricting portion is configured such that a first abutment portion is positioned on the second roller side from a straight line connecting a point protruding most to the sheet conveying path of the restricting portion and the nip portion in a state in which a second abutment portion is in contact with a surface of a first sheet as a rotary member rotates in a predetermined direction by the first abutment portion being pushed by the first sheet.

If a second detecting unit has detected an upper surface of a stack of sheets without a first detecting unit detecting the upper surface of the stack of sheets when a pickup roller is moved from a moved position to a pickup position, a control unit lifts a stacking plate by a first predetermined amount. If the pickup roller is moved from the moved position to the pickup position without the first detecting unit and the second detecting unit detecting the upper surface of the stack of sheets, the control unit lifts the stacking plate by a second predetermined amount greater than the first predetermined amount.

An image forming apparatus includes a movable member movable between first and second inside positions and between the second inside position and an outside position, supporting cartridges arranged in an arranging direction. At the outside position, the cartridges are detachably mountable outside a main assembly of the image forming apparatus in a direction crossing with the arranging direction and with a longitudinal direction of each cartridge. At the first inside position, the cartridges are positioned inside the main assembly. The second inside position is inside the main assembly partway of a movement path between the outside position and the first inside position. The movable member supports the cartridges so that a distance between adjacent two cartridges of the cartridges is increased with respect to the arranging direction in interrelation with movement of the movable member from the first inside position to the second inside position.

An image forming apparatus includes a rotatable image carrying member, a rotatable transfer member cooperative with the image carrying member, and a fixing unit having a fixing nip for nipping and feeding the recording material discharged from the transfer nip while fixing the toner image. In addition, a bowing amount measuring unit measures a bowing amount of the recording material, a storing portion stores a target bowing amount, and a speed controller controls a feeding speed of the recording material. Private information, such as a face image, to specify an applicant is input through input terminal devices. An ID number is read from an identification medium, using an IC reader/writers contained in printers. The private information is printed on a printing surface of the identification medium along with the ID number. The printing history at this time is stored in an issuance server in association with the ID number. The identification medium with surface information printed on the printing surface is set in a recording terminal device. The ID number is read from the identification medium, using the IC reader/writer, and the printing history is read form the issuance server, using the ID number as a key. Based on the read-out printing history, the personal information is recorded in an IC chip of the identification medium along with the ID number.
