A self-running vacuum cleaner comprises a homing mode of following a back of a user with receiving a signal from a light emitting means or a transmitting means of a position indicator means held by the user, an instruction operation mode, in which the user instructs a cleaning area to the self-running vacuum cleaner, and an execution mode for cleaning up the cleaning area instructed. When the self-running vacuum cleaner operates under the homing mode or the instruction mode, a signal from the light-emitting means or the transmitting means is received by a receiver means attached on a periphery portion of a measuring means, which is provided in an upper portion of the vacuum cleaner. Comparing the signals from the two (2) receiver means in strength thereof determines the distance and the direction from the position indicated by the light-emitting means or the transmitting means up to the vacuum cleaner.

Self-running vacuum cleaner

A walking aid apparatus including a movable body and a support unit provided to the movable body to support a user further includes means for reducing a change rate of speed of the movable body with respect to a change in a force applied from the user to the support unit. With this arrangement, even when the user stumbles and applies a strong force to the support unit, the movable body can be prevented from moving suddenly, minimizing the possibility of the user being left behind the movable body.

Walking aid apparatus

An ambulatory exercise machine which can easily carry out suitable ambulatory exercise in accordance with a condition of a trainee. A walking path surface is provided for the trainee and a drive drives the walking path surface. An assist arrangement is provided which includes support arms supporting the waist part of the trainee in front and at sides of the trainee and which enables a space between left and right arms to be adjusted. The assist arrangement includes a drive which drives the support arms. Further, the support arms enable attachment of a belt for holding the trainee so that the trainee is movable within a desired range.
