A data transmission apparatus that wirelessly transmits data to a data reception apparatus storing a first wireless setting, the data transmission apparatus comprises: a memory that stores the first wireless setting; a first check unit that, when specific data is to be transmitted to the data reception apparatus, executes a first check process checking whether the data transmission apparatus is able to perform communication by using a second wireless setting, which is a wireless setting being used; a first change unit that, when it is checked that the data transmission apparatus is not able to perform communication with the data reception apparatus, changes the wireless setting being used by the data transmission apparatus from the second wireless setting to the first wireless setting; and a transmission unit that wirelessly transmits the specific data by using the first wireless setting as the wireless setting being used after changing.

In a printer connected to a network, email appended with link information is prepared for enabling an administrator to access information about the printer network terminal. The email is transmitted to the administrator terminal at a predetermined timing. Then, the administrator terminal accesses the information based on the link information appended to the email. As such, when a problem occurs in the printer, operations for resolving the problem can be quickly undertaken by the administrator.

A first communication device may be configured to receive firmware information sent from a second communication device. The firmware information may include version information of a second firmware that the second communication device has. A communication device includes a receiving unit, a setting storage unit that stores information to represent a source address of a packet to be discarded, a discard determination unit that determines whether a packet received by the receiving unit should be discarded based on the information stored in the setting storage unit, a transmission control unit that discards a packet determined to be discarded and transmits downstream a packet determined not to be discarded, a report unit that reports information on discarding of a packet to a predetermined report destination when the packet is to be discarded, a report history storage unit that stores the source address of the packet as a cause of report when the report unit reports the information, and a report necessity determination unit that determines whether information on discarding of a packet needs to be reported.

In a network system including a plurality of devices connected to a network, a master device supplies general devices with shared data to be shared by the devices in the system. On each update of the shared data, the master device generates backup data (the shared data before the backup) and successively transmits a backup instruction to all the devices managed thereby, starting from a device of the lowest priority in the system. Each of the devices successively receiving the backup instruction acquires the backup data from a device having an immediately higher priority than itself. By the above operation, reliable backup of the shared data (enabling restoration of the shared data to that of several times ago after the update is repeated several times) is realized without overloading any device in the system even when the storage capacity of each device for storing the backup data is relatively small.

A data analysis provider system includes a client device and a data analysis provider both capable of two-way transmission. The client device transmits either target-of-analysis data or information relating to the target-of-analysis data to the data analysis provider. Additionally, the client device notifies the data analysis provider of a desired process to be performed on the target-of-analysis data. The data analysis provider receives the target-of-analysis data or information relating to the target-of-analysis data transmitted from the client device and confirms the desired process.
