A prism member is interposed between an LED board and a light incidence surface of a light guide plate. The prism member includes a prism sheet consisting of minute prisms that are arranged along the LED board and that have a function of refracting light that is emitted from each LED and thereby inputting, to the light incidence surface, refracted light that is scattered to both sides in the longitudinal direction of the light incidence surface. As a result, chrominance or luminance unevenness can be prevented even if the distance between the LED board and the light incidence surface is short.

Surface light source device and liquid crystal display device using it

A display device comprising a display portion of planar type, electronic parts for driving the display portion through external signals, and mechanical parts for fixing the display portion and the electronic parts to specified positions. The mechanical parts comprise at least thin metallic parts and wherein nuts are either mounted to the metallic parts through caulking or metallic parts are directly threaded. By mounting various parts to the display device through caulked nuts or through directly performing threading of metal, it is possible to remarkably improve operability than compared to the prior art and to mount a large number of parts to the display device.

To provide a planar light source device capable of preventing abnormal light emittance at a vicinity of a lamp without causing deterioration in brightness and disadvantage in view of structure and a liquid crystal display having high display grade, by projecting a reflection sheet from a light guiding plate to inside of a lamp reflector and providing notch portions at both end portions of the reflection sheet projected to inside of the lamp reflector , interference between the projected reflection sheet and electrode portions or lamp holders at both ends of the lamp is prevented from causing.

Planar light source device and liquid crystal display using the same

A sheet-like light source device of edge-light type comprising at least a light source, a light-conducting plate and a retention member for retaining the light-conducting plate. At least one convex portion or concave portion is provided on a lateral surface portion of the light-conducting plate other than a light-incident portion with the light-conducting plate being held in a specified positional relationship by means of the retention member formed with a concave portion or a convex portion which fits with the convex portion or concave portion of the light-conducting plate. A light-absorbing means is provided on at least a surface portion of either surface of the concave portion or convex portion of the retention member. It is possible to eliminate occurrence of abnormal emission of light and decreases in luminance so that the display quality of the display might be maintained.

Sheet-like light source device

A sheet-like light source device comprising a plurality of bar-shaped light sources, a diffusing plate for diffusing light emitted from the light sources, and a reflecting plate capable of mirror reflecting the light emitted from the light sources to the diffusing plate side. The reflecting plate is provided in a position opposite to the diffusing plate with respect to the light sources. The reflecting plate has at least one convex portion formed in parallel with the light sources in a space between the two adjacent light sources. It is possible to decrease or remove shield printing which has conventionally carried out over the diffusing plate, thereby enabling manufacture of a back light having a high efficiency.

A sheet-like light source device includes a light-conducting plate, at least one rod-like light source arranged to be adjacent to a light incidence surface, a tubular reflecting member covering the rod-like light source, a planar reflecting member disposed proximate to a position facing a lower surface of the light-conducting plate, and a holding member housing the light-conducting plate, the light source and both of the reflecting members. A stepped portion is provided on the holding member to contact a part of a side of the light-conducting plate on which the rod-like light source is arranged, with the holding member. A distance between the light-conducting plate and the holding member on the stepped portion is made narrower than a distance between an opening portion of the tubular reflecting member and the light-conducting plate. It is possible to obtain a sheet-like light source device which can ensure high impact resistance even if the device is large in size, which can be manufactured at a low cost and which can suppress the occurrence of uneven brightness.

Sheet-like source light device and liquid crystal display device using the same

A sheet-like light source device of side-light type comprising a light-conducting plate, at least one rod-like light source disposed proximate to a light-incident surface comprising at least one lateral side end portion of the light-conducting plate, a tubular reflecting member, and a planar reflecting member. Sloped surfaces which are inclined with respect to the light-incident surface of the light-conducting plate are formed proximate to positions of the light-incident surface of the light-conducting plate at which a luminous energy of the rod-like light source is decreased. It is possible to effectively eliminate generation of irregularities of brightness also in case the sheet-like light source device employs a light-conducting plate having no scattering portions through printing.

Light incident surface with sloped surfaces

A sheet-like light source device of side-light type comprising a light-conducting plate, at least one rod-like light source disposed proximate to a light-incident surface, a tubular reflecting member covering portions other than a surface facing the light-conducting plate of the rod-like light source, and a planar reflecting member disposed proximate to a position facing a rear surface of the light-conducting plate. An end portion of the planar reflecting member is projecting out from an end portion of the light-conducting plate within the tubular reflecting member, and the projecting end portion of the planar reflecting member is bent in a parting direction from the rod-like light source. It is possible to prevent degradations in display qualities owing to anomalous emission without degrading the brightness thereof.
