A process belt for papermaking with a long operational life including an integrated structure of a reinforcing fibrous base material and a polyurethane layer is disclosed. The reinforcing fibrous base material is embedded in the polyurethane and the outer peripheral surface and the inner peripheral surface are made of the polyurethane. Nanoparticles including, as a main component, a silicon oxide component, the surface of which is treated with an organic silane coupling agent, are homogeneously dispersed in one part or all of the polyurethane.

A belt for papermaking shoe press is provided which comprises a reinforcing fibrous base () and a polyurethane layer () united therewith, the reinforcing fibrous base () having been embedded in the polyurethane layer (). The belt includes a polyurethane layer obtained by curing a mixture comprising: a urethane prepolymer obtained by reacting a polyisocyanate compound selected among p-phenylene-diisocyanate, 4,4'-methylene-bis(phenyl isocyanate), and tolylene-diisocyanate with a polyol compound selected among polypropylene glycol, polytetramethylene glycol, and a polycarbonate diol; a hardener selected among an aliphatic diol compound, hydroquinone-bis-&#x3b2;-hydroxyethyl ether, and organic polyamine compound; and an aliphatic triol compound. Due to this layer, the shoe press belt for papermaking is excellent in wearing resistance and flexing fatigue resistance.

Disclosed is a shoe press belt () which comprises a reinforcing fibrous base material () embedded in a polyurethane layer, and has an outer circumference layer () and an inner circumference layer () each formed with a polyurethane. The polyurethane layer comprises a polyurethane which is produced by curing a composition comprising a mixture of an urethane prepolymer (A) and a curing agent (B). The urethane prepolymer (A) is produced by reacting an isocyanate compound (a) containing 55 to 100 mol % of a p-phenylene-diisocyanate compound with polytetramethylene glycol (b) and has an isocyanate group at its terminal. The curing agent (B) is selected from the group consisting of 1,4-butanediol, hydroquinone bis-&#x3b2;hydroxylethyl ether, 3,5-diethyltoluenediamine and 3,5-dimethylthiotoluenediamine. The belt () has excellent cracking resistance, bending fatigue resistance and wear resistance.

Shoe press belt for paper making

A shoe press belt for a paper machine includes a substrate and a polyurethane resin impregnated to laminate on the surfaces of both the shoe side and the felt side thereof, and is excellent in abrasion resistance, crack resistance and processability. A polyurethane resin is produced by using a combination of two kinds of diisocyanates, that is, tolylene diisocyanate (TDI) and diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) as starting materials.

The polyurethane layer constituting the outer circumference layer () comprises a polyurethane which is cured by the reaction of an urethane prepolymer (A) with a curing agent mixture (B). The urethane prepolymer (A) is produced by reacting an isocyanate compound selected from p-phenylene-diisocyanate and 4,4'-methylenebis(phenylisocyanate) with a polytetramethylene glycol and has an isocyanate group at its terminal. The curing agent mixture (B) comprises 1,4-butanediol and an aromatic polyamine having an active hydrogen group (H). The shoe press belt has excellent wear resistance, cracking resistance and bending fatigue resistance.

A shoe press belt comprises a shoe side layer, a base body on the external circumference of the shoe side layer, and a wet paper web side layer formed on the external surface of the base body. The shoe side layer is formed on mandrel having a polished surface, and the base body comprises a lattice material made by joining crossing points of warp and weft yarns, and a wound layer made by winding a thread in a helix. The lattice material, made by joining the crossing points of the warp and weft yarns as a component of the base body, has smaller undulations than those of a woven material.

An endless shoe press belt the inner portion,of which is adapted to contact a shoe S of a papermaking machine, said inner portion,being composed of a high molecular weight elastic material, characterized in that the surface of said inner portion is provided with a protective oil,comprising an oil the viscosity of which is higher than that of a lubricating oil J supplied to the contact area of said inner portion with said shoe, or a paste-like oil having a certain consistency. It effectively prevents infiltration of the lubricating oil into the surface of the inner portion of the belt.

A shoe press belt has both sides coated with a resin layer and one or both layers with side edge portions softer than the middle portion of the resin layer. The hardness of the side edge portions may first decrease stepwise laterally outwardly from the middle portion to a section which overlies the edge of the shoe, and then increase stepwise laterally outwardly to the edge of the belt. A first stepwise reduction in hardness may begin laterally inward of the edge of the wet paper sheet and extend laterally outwardly to the edge of the wet paper sheet, where a second stepwise reduction begins that extends laterally outwardly beyond the edge of the shoe. Laterally outwardly of the second reduction, a stepwise increase in hardness extends to the edge of the belt. Alternatively, each side edge portion may be of a single hardness, less than the hardness of the middle portion, and each side edge portion overlies one of the side edges of the shoe.
