Upon injection molding, a linear encoder detects a relative position between the movable platen and a fixed platen, and a strain sensor detects a mold clamping force. A mold clamping control unit has a target platen position value and a target mold clamping force value. The mold clamping control unit subtracts a platen position and a mold clamping force from the target platen position value and the target mold clamping force value, respectively, to obtain deviations. The mold clamping control unit then switches the target to be controlled between the platen position and the mold clamping force. The mold clamping control unit appropriately converts the deviation of either the platen position or the mold clamping force into a control command value for a motor. The converted value is supplied to a motor control unit. The motor control unit drivingly controls a mold clamping motor according to the control command.

Mold clamping control device capable of accurately controlling mold clamping forces exerted on a mold during injection molding

A movable mold is disposed so as to face the stationary mold and to be advanceable and retractable. The movable mold forms a cavity in cooperation with the stationary mold when mold clamping is performed. A sprue is disposed to face the cavity and has a concave portion formed at a front end thereof. A cut punch is reciprocatively disposed to face the cavity at a position corresponding to the concave portion. The cut punch enters the concave portion when advanced. A drive section is provided to advance and retract the cut punch when driven. A controller drives the drive section such that during the mold clamping, the cut punch is advanced at a predetermined extension force in order to perform gate cutting and such that the extension force is made no greater than a preset value before the mold is opened.

Injection shot is metered into a heating cylinder of the injection molding machine, and the injection shot is then injected into a mold by advancing an injection screw in an injection direction within the heating cylinder. Mold clamping control apparatus

In an injection molding machine which comprises a mold composed of a fixed mold attached to a fixed platen and a movable mold attached to a movable platen, and a driving source for driving the movable platen to open and close the mold, a distance sensor detects, as a platen interval, a distance between two positions preliminarily selected on the fixed platen and the movable platen and produces a distance detection signal. A pressure sensor detects a clamping pressure applied by the driving source and produces a pressure detection signal. A control unit controls the driving source to adjust the platen interval and the clamping pressure through a plurality of steps in response to the distance detection signal and the pressure detection signal.
