A spooland a locking baseare connected through a torsion bar. A stop gearand a positioning memberare engaged through threads with the male threadof a locking baseso as to be separated from each other a predetermined distance. The locking baseand the torsion barare mounted to the spoolwhile the distance of separation between the stop gearand the positioning memberis accurately set to a specified distance. When the tension of webbing increases due to the movement of a vehicle occupant in a vehicle collision and provides the torsion barwith EA rotation while twisting the torsion bar, the stop gearadvances toward the positioning memberand comes into contact therewith.

Seatbelt retractor

Links are provided, each between one of the side frames of the seat cushion and the support member, and can be swung. A band extends at a substantially center part of the seat cushion and between the side frames, and is provided beneath the seat pad. One end of the band is secured to the top of one side frame, and the other end (free end) hangs over the top of the other side frame. The free end of the band further extends via the direction changing member provided on the side frame, first passing by a first relay point, i.e., the axle of the link provided on the side frame, and then passing by a second relay point, i.e., the axle of the link provided on the support member. At an emergency, the traction device pulls and stretches the band.

Vehicle seat

A passenger protection device in which an airbag capable of expanding by receiving a predetermined action signal is disposed on the position of a shoulder belt, and a webbing is wound by means of one winding device, wherein the airbag is folded along a gate-shape guide-form slide guide having high-rigidity parts arranged to have a predetermined distance from one another along one side surface of a low-rigidity part extending in the lengthwise direction of the airbag can smoothly slide along the webbing via the slide guide when the webbing is being pulled out. Moreover, it is possible to fit the folded airbag between the chest and shoulder of a passenger because the slide guide is flexible.

Passenger protection device

A seat belt is wound up in a passenger protection apparatus. An airbag to be inflatable is at a position of a shoulder belt of the seat belt by being folded like a belt in the passenger protection apparatus. The passenger protection apparatus includes a fabric member which configures a bag-like member of the airbag and a partition wall fabric. The partition wall fabric has portions respectively connected to first and second parts of the fabric member and partitions an inside of the bag-like member into a central inflatable portion and supporting inflatable portions each of which is located between a passenger-side surface of the fabric member and a fabric formed of the central inflatable portion. The first and second parts configure inner surface of the bag-like member and hold the seat belt. The second part is configured to face a passenger and opposite to the first part.

Passenger protection apparatus

An air belt apparatus is provided in which a bag is stored while being folded short prior to deployment and inflation. An air belt apparatus includes a bag provided in a part of a seatbelt, a collision detection device, and a gas supply device that supplies deployment gas to the bag. The bag includes a cylindrical portion connected to the gas supply device, and an inflatable portion wider than the cylindrical portion. Prior to deployment and inflation, the inflatable portion is stored on a radial inner side of the cylindrical portion while being turned inside out and folded up to a width substantially equal to a width of the cylindrical portion.
