When a lead used for taking a pet for a walk or leashing the pet to a place such as a kennel is pulled by the pet or a human during walk or while the pet is leashed, a portable electric power generator connected with the lead generates electricity using mechanical energy obtained by the pulling action. The electricity generated by the portable electric power generator is supplied for the electronic device attached to pet worn by the pet through a charging cable disposed along the lead inside or outside the lead, thereby charging a rechargeable battery inside the electronic device attached to pet. The electronic device attached to pet uses the electrical energy of the integrated battery to perform a predetermined operation (such as wirelessly reporting the current location of the pet, and wirelessly reporting information representing the sound of the pet). In the present invention, upon reflection of an electromagnetic wave on a metallic surface, a phenomenon is employed that the direction of rotation of a circularly polarized wave is reversed for every reflection. By utilizing a circularly-polarized-wave transmitting and receiving antenna to transmit and receive the circularly polarized wave, the polarized wave of the electromagnetic wave after reflected an odd number of times from the metallic surface has its rotating direction reversed with respect to a receivable rotating direction of the transmitting and receiving antenna, thereby reducing noise caused by the odd number of reflections. In other words, the reflected wave from the wireless node for communications or measuring of a distance is set to have its rotating direction rendered identical with a rotating direction of the transmitting and receiving antenna. As a result, a signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio is improved, thus facilitating the communications or the measuring of the distance among the wireless nodes disposed in a metal box such as a container. Generally, in the wireless node set or attached onto an inner wall of the rectangular metal box, the radio wave radiated from the node in a downward direction with respect to a horizontal plane (towards a setting wall) will be reflected twice by a corner reflection phenomenon in the vicinity of the corner of the box, and then return to the original wireless node in most cases. The wireless node of the present invention is designed to have its directivity which does not spread in an area under the horizontal plane.

The objective of the present invention is to provide proximity sensors employing impulse waves to detect the characteristics of objects lying inside the object of surveillance, such as a container, including their distance, the reflection strength from an object, the speed an object is moving, etc., as well as to provide a status surveillance system which detects, from the data from the proximity sensors, that the inside of the container remains unchanged. To achieve the foregoing objectives, the present invention adds proximity sensor functions to wireless communication nodes inside of the object of surveillance, such as inside of a container. Said proximity sensors output microimpulse waves from the wireless communication nodes, and said communication nodes receive the reflections of those waves from nearby objects. The wave reception sampling is performed based upon the bit signals of the clock for the microimpulse transmissions and the local clock, and the analysis of the received signals enables the highly precise measurement of the distance to an object using simple circuitry. It is then possible to detect an abnormal occurrence inside the object of surveillance by comparing the characteristic data obtained from the initial environment with that data obtained during the period of surveillance. Further, the proximity sensing function is able to detect the direction of any penetration.

The objective of the present invention is to detect, using a universal method, any 'movement' inside of the object being monitored, while maintaining the security of a container. The movement inside of the object to be monitored includes 1) a human movement when a human enters into a container to be monitored, 2) a movement to bring a foreign article in, 3) a movement to take cargo out. To achieve the objective, this invention uses the concept of a so-called 'inside-seal'. In actual configuration, a plurality of communication units (communication nodes) are installed on the walls of the container. These communication units have a predetermined powered communication capability and form a communication network communicating with each other. A communication status between each node and all of the other nodes provided in the network, and a network graph matrix is generated which defines the nodal relationship between the nodes. Since the matrix is determined not only by the property of the object to be monitored, but also by the spatial condition within the container, it is possible to detect even a small change in the space. According to the first preferred embodiment, each node transmits a low power electric wave which can reach only neighboring nodes, and each node can transmit data to remote nodes only by relaying the data to the neighboring nodes. The relaying counts (HOP counts) of each node to communicate with all of the other nodes are obtained, and based on these relaying counts, a network graph matrix is generated which defines the relaying counts to communicate between all nodes. According to the second preferred embodiment, each node transmits UWB waves to all of the other nodes, which can reach to all of the other nodes, and the distances between all the nodes are measured and a network graph matrix between all the nodes is generated.
