A cylindrical filter for a gas generator includes, a plurality of layers made of a porous metal plate in which a compressive strength (S) of a predetermined region in at least one end in the height direction is set smaller than a compressive strength (S) of a portion other than the Sregion, the porous metal plate being selected from the group consisting of expanded metal, metal lath, and perforated metal, and the Sregion corresponding to a region of 5 to 20% in length from both ends with respect to the overall height.

Cylindrical filter for gas generator

An inflator includes: a pressurized gas filled with a pressurized gas and having a first end and a second end; a gas generator being connected to the first end, and including therein an ignition device and a molded article of a gas generating; a diffuser portion connected to the second end, and being provided with a gas discharge port; a communication path provided between the pressurized gas chamber and the gas generator and closed by a rupturable plate; a cap provided to cover the rupturable plate from the pressurized gas chamber side and having a plurality of gas holes formed at a circumference thereof, the minimum diameter (d min) of the gas hole being equal to or smaller than the larger one of the minimum diameter (D min) and the length (L) of the molded article of the gas generating composition.

A gas generator has an inner cylindrical member disposed in a cylindrical housing, an annular first combustion chamber provided radially in the outside of the inner cylindrical member, and, in the combustion chamber, a ratio of its radial average distance to its axial average length is adjusted to be in the range of 0.2 to 2.0. The gas generator has a retainer which changes a flow of a gas ejected from a through-hole in the inner cylindrical member and has a cylindrical portion for collecting fluid and semifluid combustion products included in the gas.

Gas generator for air bag and air bag device

The invention provided a gas generator for an air bag having any of the following members. A deflecting member is provided to suppress discharge of a combustion product generated by a combustion of gas generating means, and is formed as a tube portion to be capable of shielding a gas discharge port formed at least on a circumferential wall of a housing from the inside of the housing. A coolant/filter means supporting member can position a coolant/filter means, prevent a short pass of an operating gas, and functions as a buffer member between the coolant/filter and the housing, and/or prevent a heat from being transferred to a diffuser shell, and comprises an annular portion arranged to face an end surface of the housing and a wall portion contacting with an inner periphery of the coolant/filter means. Further, in order to make it possible to securely support and fix the coolant means and prevent the short pass of the operating gas, an outer peripheral edge of an end portion thereof is adhered and/or supported to a bent portion or a step portion formed in an inner surface of an upper end surface and/or an inner surface of a lower end portion in the housing. The coolant/filter means is formed in a cylindrical shape obtained by laminating a wire mesh. The housing for the gas generator securely fixes an igniter included in an ignition means, is preferably used at a time of manufacturing a gas generator having a restricted overall height, and has an opening portion for inserting and fixing the igniter or an igniter supporting member. The opening portion is provided with a connecting portion for fixing the inserted igniter or igniter supporting member, and the connecting portion is provided in inner side of the housing rather than the end surface having the opening portion.

Gas generator for air bag to secure safety and reliability in operation while reducing size of container in a simple structure with reduced number of parts. With this gas generator, ignition and combustion performance of the gas generating agent are enhanced. A partition wall member defines the inner space of a housing into at least two chambers in the gas generator, a disk-like dividing member is disposed inside the partition wall member, a peripheral surface of the dividing member is provided with a pawl spreading like a petticoat toward a skirt portion of the partition wall member, and the pawl is fitted into a groove circumferentially formed in an inner peripheral surface of the annular peripheral wall.
