Provided are a non-aqueous electrolyte battery and a non-aqueous electrolyte battery system that can be repeatedly charged and that have good storage characteristics in a high-temperature environment. A non-aqueous electrolyte battery of the present invention includes an electrode body in which a positive electrode and a negative electrode are laminated with a separator interposed therebetween, and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The negative electrode has a laminated body including a metal base layer that does not form an alloy with Li, and Al active layers respectively bonded to both faces of the metal base layer, or a laminated body including a metal base layer that is made of a metal selected from Ni, Ti, and Fe, or an alloy thereof, and an Al active layer bonded to the metal base layer. A Li&#x2014;Al alloy is formed at least on a surface side of each Al active layer.

Non-aqueous electrolyte battery, method for manufacturing same, and non-aqueous electrolyte battery system

An electrode active material includes particles of a lithium-containing composite oxide represented by the general compositional formula: LiMO, where &#x2212;0.15&#x2266;x&#x2266;0.15, and M represents an element group of three or more elements including at least Ni, Co and Mn, wherein the ratios of Ni, Co and Mn to the total elements constituting M satisfy 45&#x2266;a&#x2266;90, 5&#x2266;b&#x2266;30, 5&#x2266;c&#x2266;30 and 10&#x2266;b+c&#x2266;55, where the ratios of Ni, Co and Mn are represented by a, b and c, respectively, in units of mol %, the average valence A of Ni in the whole particles is 2.2 to 3.2, the valence B of Ni on the surface of the particles has the relationship: B&#x3c;A, the average valence C of Co in the whole particles is 2.5 to 3.2, the valence D of Co on the surface of the particles has the relationship: D&#x3c;C, and the average valence of Mn in the whole particles is 3.5 to 4.2.

Electrode active material, method for producing same, electrode for nonaqueous secondary battery, and nonaqueous secondary battery

The display device has an LCD panel, a light source, and a digitizer disposed on the back surface of the LCD panel. The display device further contains a U-shaped first heat-dissipation plate made of a non-magnetic material. The first heat-dissipation plate is disposed on at least one end of the periphery of the LCD panel in a way that the opening of the U-shape faces toward the LCD panel. The light source is mounted on the first heat-dissipation plate, and an end section of the digitizer is covered with the opening of the plate.

Display device

An illumination apparatus includes a light source (), a first integrator () into which light from the light source () enters, and a second integrator () into which light exiting from the first integrator () enters. Accordingly, the aperture shape of the first integrator () can be optimally designed, so that the light utilization efficiency can be increased. Furthermore, even when the length of the first integrator () is reduced, a deficiency in the light uniformity due to the first integrator () is compensated for by the second integrator (), so that high uniformity can be secured at the surface to be illuminated.

The present invention provides an inexpensive projection display that allows a pixel grid as ineffective portions of respective pixels of a light valve to be made inconspicuous. The projection display includes a birefringent element () for spatially separating light from a transmission liquid crystal light valve (). The birefringent element () includes a first birefringent plate () that the light from the liquid crystal light valve () enters, a second birefringent plate () that light from the first birefringent plate () enters, and a third birefringent plate () that light from the second birefringent plate () enters. A polarization direction of the light entering the first birefringent plate () forms an angle of n&#xd7;45&#xb0; (n is an integer other than 0) with an optic axis of the first birefringent plate () projected on an incident surface of the first birefringent plate (). An optic axis of the second birefringent plate () projected on an incident surface of the second birefringent plate () is orthogonal to the optic axis of the first birefringent plate () projected on the incident surface of the first birefringent plate (). An optic axis of the third birefringent plate () projected on an incident surface of the third birefringent plate () extends horizontally or vertically.

Projection display

An illuminator comprising two light source sections (), a rod integrator (), and a relay lens system () for introducing a light flux emitted from the rod integrator (), wherein the rod integrator () is a columnar optical element having an incident end face (F) and an exit end face (B). One pair of opposite side faces out of four side faces are formed so that the planes face each other in parallel while the other pair of opposite side faces form a taper face where the planes face each other while inclining at a specified angle such that the opposite side faces recede from the incident end face (F) toward the exit end face (B). Lights from the two light source sections () are converged to the vicinity of the incident end face (F) of the rod integrator ().

Illuminator and projection image display employing it

A white light beam from a light source portion ( ) is separated into respective light beams of red, green and blue by a color separation optical system ( ). The respective light beams are reflected by a rotating polygon mirror ( ), travel via a second optical system ( ) and form belt-like illuminated regions on an image display panel ( ). By a rotation of the rotating polygon mirror ( ), the illuminated regions of the respective light beams move continuously, and each pixel of the image display panel ( ) is driven by a signal corresponding to a color of light entering this pixel. An image on the image display panel ( ) is magnified and projected onto a screen by a projection optical system ( ). The color separation optical system ( ) has first and second reflecting mirrors that respectively reflect the respective light beams of red, green and blue, and these reflecting mirrors are arranged so that optical paths of the respective light beams have equal lengths from the light source portion ( ) to the rotating polygon mirror ( ). This makes it possible to provide a small projection-type image display apparatus that has a high efficiency of light utilization and can display an image with high resolution and enhanced color uniformity.

Projection image display

A projection display system includes: two light sources ( ); a condenser ( ) for condensing the light from the light sources; a time-division color separating optical system ( ) for temporally switching the incident light into a first, second, or third color of light to be emitted; a light valve ( ) capable of modulating the incident light individually for each pixel; a lighting optical system ( ) for directing the light from the time-division color separating optical system onto the light valve, and a projection optical system ( ) for magnifying and projecting a pixel on the light valve. The light from the two light sources ( ) is condensed on the time-division color separating optical system or its vicinity by the condenser ( ), and then superimposed. This can provide a projection display system that performs time-division driving and can achieve high-brightness projection images without increasing the size and cost of a system.

An image display apparatus is provided for enlarging and projecting a light emitted from a plurality of self-emitting elements on a screen by beam scanning means, which is an image display apparatus having little or no luminance unevenness by solving the conventional problem of causing luminance unevenness in images projected on the screen due to a variance in luminance characteristics of each self-emitting element. It is configured such that a part of the light scanned on the screen from the beam scanning means is provided to a photodetector element that converts the intensity of the light into an electric signal so as to correct a driving signal to be supplied to the self-emitting element by the intensity of the light detected by this photodetector element.

Image display apparatus and method for compensating display image of image display apparatus

Three colors of light beams from a light source travel via a first optical system to strike a reflecting surface of a rotating polygon mirror, or mirrors, at different angles without overlapping. The rotating polygon mirror or mirrors reflect the light beams for scanning. The reflected light beams enter a second optical system at different angles to illuminate an image display panel at different portions. On the image display panel, belt-like regions illuminated by the light beams of individual colors are formed in parallel with each other, and these illuminated regions are moved continuously by scanning. A formed color image is magnified and projected by a projection optical system. With such a projection type image display apparatus, a display having high resolution and light efficiency that is also small, thin and inexpensive is achieved.

Color image display apparatus

Red, green and blue light beams from, a light source portion travel via a first optical system and enter a reflecting surface of a rotating polygon mirror at different angles so as not to overlap each other. The rotating polygon mirror makes these light beams perform scanning when reflecting these light beams. The light beams for the scanning enter a second optical system at different angles and are led to different positions on an image display panel. The second optical system forms an image that is rotated by 90&deg; from that on the rotating polygon mirror on the image display panel. On the image display panel, belt-like regions illuminated by the light beams of individual colors are formed in parallel with each other, and these illuminated regions are moved continuously by the scanning. Each pixel of the image display panel is driven by a signal corresponding to a color of light entering this pixel. A formed color image is magnified and projected by a projection optical system. With such a projection-type image display apparatus, it becomes possible to achieve a display with a high efficiency of light utilization and a high resolution. In addition, since the second optical. system rotates the light beams from the rotating polygon mirror by 90&deg; and then leads them to the image display panel, a widely-used image display panel can be used. Accordingly, an image display apparatus that is small, thin and inexpensive can be achieved.

Projection-type image display apparatus

A light source for emitting a white light in one direction, color light separating means for separating the white light from the light source into three color lights of red light, blue light and green light, modulating means including liquid crystal light valves for modulating the polarized lights contained in the luminous fluxes from the color light separating means, and producing a video image, color light combining means for combining the modulated luminous fluxes after being modulated by the modulating means, and projection optical means for projecting the combined luminous flux obtained by the color light combining means on a screen. A polarizer is disposed at the light exit side of the modulating means. A dichroic filter having characteristics for selectively passing and selectively reflecting the color lights from the modulating means is disposed between the color light combining means and the modulating means positioned on an optical path of at least one color light of the three color lights of the red light, blue light and green light. The quarter-wave plate has a plurality of quarter-wave plates, a first quarter-wave plate of the plurality of quarter-wave plates is contacting with the dichroic filter, and a second quarter-wave plate of the plurality of quarter-wave plates contacts the dichroic filter, and is disposed between the dichroic filter and the color light combining means.

Projection type video image display device

A video projector including a light source and a light valve for receiving light emitted from the light source. A first filter is disposed between the light source and the light valve. The first filter removes light having a bandwidth ranging from ultraviolet to a wavelength within the visible spectrum of light and infrared light from the light emitted from the light source. A second filter is disposed between the first filter and the light valve. The second filter removes light having a bandwidth ranging from ultraviolet to a wavelength within the visible spectrum of light.
