A producing apparatus is used, in which a metallic endless belt having a mirror face is wound on and extends between a first cooling roller covered with an elastic member and a second cooling roller, and a third cooling roller having a mirror face on its surface and touching the first cooling roller through a molten thermoplastic resin sheet and the endless belt oriented therebetween to hold the molten thermoplastic resin sheet pressed with the endless belt. While the temperature of the third cooling roller and the endless belt directly touching the molten thermoplastic resin sheet is retained at less than 50&deg; C. and more than the dew-point, the molten thermoplastic resin sheet is guided into the area between the first and third cooling rollers to touch the endless belt, touching the first cooling roller, and the third cooling roller at approximately the same time, and the molten thermoplastic resin sheet is touch-rolled on the face and cooled by the first and third cooling rollers along a nip width of more than or the same as 5 mm during the elastic deformation of the elastic member, caused by a pressing force between the first and third cooling rollers, and subsequently, the molten thermoplastic resin sheet is cooled by touch-rolling the face to the third cooling roller with the endless belt.

Producing method of a thermoplastic resin sheet and producing apparatus thereof

Provided is a method for manufacturing a thermoplastic resin sheet bearing an embossed pattern, which employs a manufacturing apparatus having a first roll having an elastic material coated surface, a mirror-faced metal, endless belt, which is wound around the first roll and a second roll, and a third roll so provided that the metal, endless belt is wrapped partially around the third roll, which contacts the first roll via the metal, endless belt and which has an embossed pattern formed on one surface. According to this method, the thermoplastic resin sheet, partially melted, is fed between the metal, endless belt, which contacts the first roll, and the third roll. The elastic member is elastically deformed by application of a pressing force between the first and the third roll, while face pressure welding the thermoplastic sheet by using the first and the third rolls to transfer the embossed pattern and to cool the thermoplastic resin sheet. A surface temperature for the third roll of from 0&deg; C. to (resin's Tg &plus;20)&deg;C. is maintained when the thermoplastic resin sheet is formed of an amorphous resin, and a surface temperature for the third roll of 0&deg; C. to (resin's m.p. &minus;30)&deg;C. is maintained when the thermoplastic resin sheet is formed of a crystalline resin. Subsequently, face pressure welding of the thermoplastic resin sheet is performed by using the metal, endless belt relative to the third roll.

An emboss pattern processing apparatus for transferring an emboss pattern onto a thermoplastic resin sheet includes an emboss patterning roller and a lustering device having a mirror face member. A thermoplastic resin film is preheated as the temperature T is changed to at a temperature of Tg&lt;T&lt;m.p.-10.degree. The middle cylinder section can be attached onto the outer circumference surface with an elastic body.

The middle cylinder section can be attached onto the outer circumference surface with an elastic body.

A first thermoplastic resin film is laid on a heated endless belt to be moved together with the endless metal belt, a second thermoplastic resin film is superposed on the first thermoplastic resin film laid on the belt, and the first and second thermoplastic resin films laid on the belt are touch-rolled by a combination of the belt and a second roller to be laminated. The second thermoplastic resin film can be superposed on the first thermoplastic resin film laid on the belt after being touched to the second roller. A thermally produced molding is obtained by heat treating the laminated thermoplastic resin film.

A method is provided for producing a thermoplastic resin sheet or film by hot-melting and then cooling a thermoplastic resin to form a sheet or film. The thermoplastic resin sheet or film is moved so that it is pressed against the outer surface of an external heated roll and against a heated, endless metal belt. The endless metal belt is disposed at one end around a moving, internal heating roll and at an opposite end thereof around a moving, internal cooling roll. The internal heating roll heats the endless metal belt to a temperature higher than the softening point of the thermoplastic resin and higher than the temperature of the external heating roll to thermally adhere the thermoplastic resin sheet or film to the external heated roll or the heated, endless metal belt. The thermoplastic resin sheet or film is then moved along on the external heated roll or belt into a high temperature zone. The thermoplastic resin sheet or film is then released from the contact with the external heated roll and released from contact with the endless metal belt in a low temperature zone. The thermoplastic resin sheet or film is then peeled from the endless metal belt. Methods are also provided for producing a laminate of two or more thermoplastic resin sheets or films. The above methods provide non-stretched thermoplastic resin sheets, films or laminates with high-quality surfaces, which are suitable for wrapping foods and medicines.
