A washing apparatus that easily washes off metal impurities from a porous metal substrate used as an electrode plate core for an alkaline battery. The washing apparatus includes a liquid bath container which holds a solution for washing off the metal impurities. A guide guides movement of the porous metal substrate in the solution held in the liquid bath container. The porous metal substrate is wound into a hoop in a coil-shaped manner, and the guide guides the movement of a sheet portion of the porous metal substrate unwound from the hoop. A winding mechanism winds the sheet portion after being fed through the liquid bath container.

Apparatus and method for washing electrode plate core for alkaline battery

An alkaline storage battery of the present invention includes a battery case and a group of electrodes. The battery case is provided with a resin case and a coating layer made of a resin formed on at least one surface selected from an inner surface and an outer surface of the resin case. The hydrogen permeability coefficient of the resin that is the material of the coating layer is 1&#xd7;10mol&#xb7;m/m&#xb7;sec&#xb7;Pa or less.

A nickel metal hydride storage battery included a battery case, and a group of electrode plates arranged in the battery case, wherein the battery case includes a battery case main body having a hole and a lid for closing the hole. The battery case includes a first portion made of a metal or a laminate of a metal and a resin, and a second portion made of a resin; and an area of the first portion is 20% or more and 90% or less with respect to the entire battery case. Thus, a nickel metal hydride storage battery is capable of controlling the amount of hydrogen permeating the battery case and capable of suppressing the long-term deterioration.

A plate core material is manufactured by a method including the processes of soaking a core material () that is made of nickel or nickel-plated steel and includes copper as an impurity in an aqueous solution () containing ammonium ions and hydrogen peroxide, so that the copper is dissolved in the aqueous solution (), and removing the aqueous solution () from the surface of the core material (). Further, an alkaline storage battery is manufactured by a method including this manufacturing method. According to the manufacturing method of the present invention, an alkaline storage battery having higher reliability than that of a conventional alkaline storage battery can be obtained.
