An electrophotographic photoreceptor includes a conductive substrate and a photosensitive layer on the conductive substrate. The photosensitive layer contains an arylamine compound of a formula (I): ##STR1## where A.sub.1, A.sub.2, A.sub.3 and A.sub.4 each independently represents a substituted or unsubstituted group selected from an alkyl group, an aralkyl group, an aryl group, a heterocyclic group and a condensed polycyclic group; Y represents a substituted or unsubstituted group selected from an alkylene group, an aralkylene group, an alkenylene group, an arylene group, and a bivalent heterocyclic group; and R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 each independently represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent selected from a hydroxyl group, a halogen atom, and a substituted or unsubstituted group selected from an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aralkyl group, an aralkyloxy group, an aryl group, an aryloxy group, a heterocyclic group, a heterocyclicoxy group, a condensed polycyclic group and an amino group.

Electrophotographic photoreceptor

An electrophotographic photoreceptor having a photosensitive layer on a conductive substrate is provided, in which a stilbene compound represented by the formula �I! contained in the photosensitive layer to give the photoreceptor excellent sensitivity and residual potential. ##STR1##

In the invention, there is provided an electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising a conductive substrate and a photosensitive layer formed thereon, said photosensitive layer containing an arylamine hydrazone compound represented by the following formula �I!. ##STR1##

An electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising an electrically conductive substrate and a photosensitive layer formed thereon, wherein the photosensitive layer contains at least one member selected from the group consisting of compounds of the formula (I), (II), and (III) as defined in the specification. ##STR1##

An electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising an electrically conductive support and a photosensitive layer formed thereon, wherein said photosensitive layer contains an arylamine compound of the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein each of Ar.sup.1, Ar.sup.2, Ar.sup.3 and Ar.sup.4 which may be the same or different, is an aryl group which may have substituents, or a heterocyclic group which may have substituents, each of R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 which may be the same or different, is a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a halogen atom, an alkyl group which may have substituents, an alkoxy group which may have substituents, or a phenyl group which may have substituents, and each of R.sup.7 and R.sup.8 which may be the same or different, is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group which may have substituents, or an alkoxy group which may have substituents.

An electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising an electrically conductive support and a photosensitive layer formed thereon, wherein said photosensitive layer contains an arylamine compound of the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein each of Ar.sup.1 and Ar.sup.2 which may be the same or different, is an arylene group which may have substituents, each of R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 which may be the same or different, is an alkyl group which may have substituents, an aryl group which may have substituents, or a heterocyclic group which may have substituents, provided that R.sup.1 may, together with R.sup.2 or Ar.sup.1, form a ring containing the adjacent nitrogen atom, and R.sup.3 may, together with R.sup.4 or Ar.sup.2, form a ring containing the adjacent nitrogen atom, each of R.sup.5, R.sup.6, R.sup.7 and R.sup.8 which may be the same or different, is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group which may have substituents, an aryl group which may have substituents, or a heterocyclic group which may have substituents, and each of m and n which may be the same or different, is an integer of from 1 to 6.

An electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising a photosensitive layer which contains one or more hydrazone compounds represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein A represents a substituted or unsubstituted aryl or heterocyclic group; R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.5 are the same or different from each other and independently represent a hydrogen atom, or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl group; R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are the same or different from each other and independently represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a nitro group, or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkoxy, aryl or aryloxy group; R.sup.6 represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or alkoxy group; R.sup.7 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or heterocyclic group, or an allyl group, or binds to the phenyl group attached to the nitrogen atom as indicated by the dotted line in the formula I to form either one of the following rings together with the phenyl group and the nitrogen atom: ##STR2## and n is an integer of 1 or 2, provided that A and R.sup.1 may form a ring together with the carbon atom to which they are attached. This photoreceptor has high sensitivity and excellent endurance.
