A lithographic printing plate support of the invention includes an aluminum plate and an anodized aluminum film which has micropores extending from a surface of the anodized film opposite from the aluminum plate in a depth direction of the anodized film; the micropores each have a large-diameter portion extending from the anodized film surface to an average depth (depth A) of 75 to 120 nm and a small-diameter portion which communicates with the bottom of the large-diameter portion; the average diameter of the large-diameter portion at the anodized film surface is at least 10 nm but less than 30 nm; a ratio of the depth A to the average diameter (depth A/average diameter) of the large-diameter portion is more than 4.0 but up to 12.0; and an average diameter of the small-diameter portion at the communication level is more than 0 but less than 10 nm.

A lithographic printing plate support includes an aluminum plate and an anodized film formed at a surface of the aluminum plate and having micropores which extend in a depth direction of the anodized aluminum film from a surface of the anodized film opposite from the aluminum plate. Each of the micropores includes a large-diameter portion and a dendritic small-diameter portion. The lithographic printing plate support has excellent scratch resistance and is capable of obtaining a presensitized plate which exhibits excellent on-press developability and enables a lithographic printing plate formed therefrom to have a long press life and excellent deinking ability after suspended printing.

The lithographic printing plate support includes an aluminum plate and an anodized film formed on the aluminum plate and micropores extend in the anodized film in a depth direction from its surface opposite from the aluminum plate. Each of the micropores includes a large-diameter portion having a predetermined shape and a small-diameter portion having a predetermined shape. The present invention provides a method for preparing an aluminum support for lithographic printing plate, the aluminum support for a lithographic printing plate obtained by the method and a presensitized plate using the same, characterized in that anodizing treatment is performed on an aluminum plate after hydrochloric acid electrolytic graining treatment if necessary, nitric acid electrolytic graining treatment are performed on the aluminum plate at a specified ratio of quantities of electricity, and with this method, a lower-purity aluminum plate could be used and a obtained support for a lithographic printing plate is excellent in press life and scum resistance when a lithographic printing plate is prepared.

A method of forming a roll for embossing aluminum sheet, and the associated roll, the method comprising subjecting a surface of a steel roll to at least the steps of, in order: blasting treatment, electrolytic treatment with 1,000 to 20,000 C/dmof electricity in which the steel roll is used as the anode, and chromium plating treatment. An aluminum sheet embossing roll produced by the method of the present invention has on the surface thereof peaks, or asperities, which are of uniform height and very numerous. As a result, aluminum sheets obtained using such a roll, when employed as lithographic printing plate supports, have excellent printing characteristics, particularly a long press life and a high sensitivity.

A roll for metal rolling has a roughened surface formed by an electrolytic treatment in an electrolytic solution while using the roll as an anode. When the roll is used to emboss an aluminum plate, it is possible to obtain an aluminum plate with an uneven structure having regulated positions of levels of peaks and a larger number of the peaks. A presensitized plate formed by use of the aluminum plate as a support has excellent printing performances particularly in the number of printed sheets and sensitivity.

Disclosed is a presensitized plate, having an anodized layer and recording layer provided on a support for a lithographic printing plate, wherein the anodized layer is provided by subjecting an aluminum plate to graining and anodizing treatments. Disclosed is a production method of an aluminum support for a lithographic printing plate, capable of stable and low-cost production of an aluminum support for a lithographic printing plate, the support being scarcely subject to generation of treatment unevenness called streaks or grainy unevenness ascribable to the different in the aluminum dissolving rate due to the difference in the orientation of the crystal grain. The aluminum support is produced by surface graining and then polishing an aluminum plate or by polishing an aluminum plate while etching it in an aqueous acid or alkali solution.
