The present invention provides an electron beam curable coating composition comprising: an electron beam curable component (A) which contains 10% by mass or more of a multifunctional (meth)acrylate; and a room temperature curable component (B) which contains 1 to 15% by mass of an isocyanate group and is not cured by electron beam irradiation, wherein a solid content mass ratio of the component (B) to a total amount of the components (A) and (B) is 20 to 55% by mass.

Electron beam curable coating composition

An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a coated material by using a composition that can be spray-coated, and that does not run downward after coating (i.e., rheology controllable). The method for producing a coated material includes step (1) of applying an electron beam-curable composition containing an ethylenically unsaturated group-containing compound to a substrate to form a coating film that has a surface viscosity of 1 Pa&#xb7;s to 300 Pa&#xb7;s as measured based on an electric-field pickup method, step (2) of drying the coating film obtained in step (1) to form a dry coating film when the electron beam-curable composition contains a volatile component, and step (3) of irradiating the substrate that has the coating film obtained in step (1) or the dry coating film obtained in step (2) with electron beams in an inert gas atmosphere to form a cured coating film.

Provided is a method of applying an electron beam curable aqueous coating material, including coating a surface of a material to be coated with the electron beam curable aqueous coating material to form a wet coating film; drying the wet coating film until a time integration value of a reciprocal of an average value of viscosities of a region from a surface of the wet coating film to a depth of one half a film thickness of the wet coating film is in a range of 0.30 (Pa&#xb7;s)&#xb7;min to 0.90 (Pa&#xb7;s)&#xb7;min, which is acquired by an electric field pick-up method, and a solid content concentration of the wet coating film is 90% by mass or greater; and curing the obtained dry coating film by irradiation with an electron beam after the wet coating film is dried.

A paint hardening device is a device for hardening paint applied to a workpiece and includes an electron beam emission portion configured to emit an electron beam to harden the paint, and a storage chamber in which the electron beam emission portion is accommodated. The paint hardening device is configured to move the workpiece and the electron beam emission portion relative to each other while the electron beam is being applied to the paint from the electron beam emission portion in a state where an inert gas atmosphere is formed at least in an electron-beam passing region where the electron beam passes in the storage chamber, the electron beam being applied to the paint from the electron beam emission portion.

Paint hardening device and paint hardening method

A coating device is equipped with a rotary head, a drive unit, and an electric power supply unit. The rotary head is configured to be supplied with a coating material. The rotary head includes a diffusion surface that is configured such that the coating material is diffused toward an outer edge portion of the diffusion surface by a centrifugal force, and a plurality of groove portions that are included in the outer edge portion. The rotary head is configured to discharge a threadlike coating material from the groove portions. Also, the coating device is configured such that a diameter of the threadlike coating material is set equal to or larger than 0.03 mm and equal to or smaller than 0.1 mm and that the threadlike coating material is electrostatically atomized.

An electrostatic painting method includes steps of: attaching a grounded clip to an insulating workpiece; spraying water-based paint to the workpiece while moving a paint gun from a position where the painting has started in a predetermined direction to form a first band-like painting film; spraying the water-based paint to the workpiece while moving the paint gun to thereby form a second band-like painting film, in which the second band-like painting film is formed in parallel to the first painting film, and a part of the second band-like painting film overlaps the first painting film. An amount of overlap between the first and second painting films is within a range previously determined based on an influence on the water-based paint sprayed when the second painting film is formed that causes the water-based paint sprayed to be attracted to the grounded first painting film.

Electrostatic painting method

A paint supply method supplies a paint into a paint cartridge by using a filling valve that has: a paint supply channel that is linkable in communication with a supply portion provided for supplying the paint into the paint cartridge; a branch channel that branches from the paint supply channel near a site of linkage in communication between the supply portion and the paint supply channel; and a trigger valve as an open-close valve of the paint supply channel which is disposed in the paint supply channel upstream of the site of linkage in communication. After a filling liquid is filled into the branch channel, the trigger valve (open-close valve) is opened, and the paint is supplied into the paint cartridge via the paint supply channel.

Method of supplying paint to a paint cartridge

A paint filling apparatus has a plurality of header portions, and one common manifold portion that is capable of supplying a cleaning liquid to each header portion. One side of each header portion is attachable to and detachable from a paint cartridge, and another side of each header portion is attachable to and detachable from the common manifold portion. Each header portion has a paint supply channel for filling a paint into the paint cartridge. The paint supply channel of each header portion is constructed of a piping member and a paint channel. An end portion of each header portion is linkable in communication with the inside of the paint cartridge, and another end portion thereof is linked in communication with a corresponding one of paint tanks that are provided separately for each of the paint colors. An intermediate portion of each paint supply channel is provided with a paint valve that controls the open-closed state of the upstream side of the paint supply channel.

A paint feeding device is equipped with a paint feeding passage, which has a discharge port at one end, to which a rinsing liquid feeding device for feeding a rinsing liquid to the inside, and an air feeding device for feeding air to the inside, are connected to the end portion on the opposite side of the discharge port. A plurality of paint feeding devices for feeding the paint to the inside are connected between the discharge port and the opposite side end portion. The rinsing liquid feeding device and the air feeding device are connected to the paint feeding passage through a rinsing liquid feeding passage disposed separately of the paint feeding passage. The rinsing liquid feeding passage has a passage content volume set according to the feeding capacity of the rinsing liquid per a unit time by the rinsing liquid feeding device.
