Disclosed herein is an emulsifying composition which comprises one or more of the alkyl or alkenyl glyceryl ether phosphate compounds represented by the formula (I) and/or (II): ##STR1## in which R represents a linear saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 8-20 carbon atoms, X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 are independently a pair ion selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkali metal, ammonium, alkylammonium which has an alkyl group having 1-5 carbon atoms, and alkanolamine which has a hydroxyalkyl group having 2 or 3 carbon atoms. The above emulsifying composition is high in safety against skin and can be widely used in either type of W/O or O/W emulsion.

Emulsifying composition

A creamy cleansing composition comprises the following four components: (A) one or more phosphoric ester surfactants, (B) an organic or inorganic salt, (C) polyethylene glycol and (D) an ethylene oxide addition type non-ionic surface active agent or a cationic surface active agent. The cleansing composition is gentle to the skin or hair, and stable without separation for a long period of time.

Creamy cleansing compositions

A hair cosmetic composition comprising a hydroxy-propyl-etherified glycolipid ester represented by the formula, ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a methyl group or a hydrogen atom; R.sup.2 represents a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 11 to 15 carbon atoms when R.sup.1 is a methyl group, or a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 12 to 16 carbon atoms when R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom; A represents the group ##STR2## R.sup.3 represents a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or --(A).sub.h H; and a,b,c,d,e,f,g and h are each integers and are in the range of 1 to 60 as their total number.

Hair cosmetic composition

A skin-protecting cosmetic composition comprising a hydroxypropyl-etherified glycolipid ester represented ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a methyl group or a hydrogen atom; R.sup.2 represents a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having carbon atoms of 11 to 15 when R.sup.1 is a methyl group, or a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having carbon atoms of 12 to 16 when R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom; a represents the group ##STR2## R.sup.3 represents a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having carbon atoms of 1 to 20 or --(A).sub.h H; and a, b, c, d, e, f, g and h are each integers, whose sum ranges from 1 to 60.

Skin-protecting cosmetic composition

A cosmetic composition comprising as an essential component a glycolipid ester represented by the formula, ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a methyl group or a hydrogen atom; R.sub.2 represents a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 11 to 15 carbon atoms when R.sub.1 is a methyl group, or a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 12 to 16 carbon atoms when R.sub.1 is a hydrocarbon atom; and R.sub.3 represents a saturated or unsaturated hydrogen group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms is effective for skin and hair treatment.

Cosmetic composition for skin and hair treatment

A hair cosmetic composition comprising a cosmetic base containing 0.5 to 40% by weight of a diol derivative having the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein X.sub.1 is R--or ##STR2## in which R is branched alkyl having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, X.sub.2 is --H or ##STR3## in which R is branched alkyl having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, R.sub.1 is H, CH.sub.3, C.sub.2 H.sub.5 or C.sub.3 H.sub.7, R.sub.2 is H, CH.sub.3, C.sub.2 H.sub.5 or OH, and n and m each is an integer of from 1 to 3, or a branched aliphatic alcohol having the formula (II): ##STR4## wherein R.sub.3 is linear or branched alkyl having 8 to 10 carbon atoms and R.sub.4 is linear or branched alkyl having 6 to 8 carbon atoms, said hair cosmetic composition also having incorporated therein from 0.5 to 10% of a methylpolysiloxane having the formula (III): ##STR5## wherein l is an integer of from 3 to 14.

Hair cosmetic

A dentifrice composition comprising 0.5 to 5 wt.% of an alkali metal phosphate and 0.5 to 13 wt.% of monomorillonite having a composition (% by weight, calculated on an anhydrous basis) of 60.0 to 70.0% of SiO.sub.2, 20.0 to 30.0% of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, 2.0 to 5.0% of MgO, 2.0 to 5.0% of Na.sub.2 O and 0.0 to 2.0% of Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 or hectorite having a composition (% by weight, calculated on an anhydrous basis) of 50.0 to 65.0% of SiO.sub.2, 20.0 to 30.0% of MgO, 2.5 to 5.0% of Na.sub.2 O, 0.6 to 2.0% of Li.sub.2 O and 0.0 to 2.0% of Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3.

Dentifrice composition

A dentifrice composition comprising a water-soluble fluoride of the type customarily added to dentifrices as a caries-preventing agent, in an amount of 100 to 2,000 ppm calculated as fluorine, and 0.3 to 13% by weight of montmorillonite having the following composition (% by weight, calculated on an anhydrous basis):
