A flowability improver for engineering plastics which comprises a polymer (A) comprising of 50 to 99.5% by mass of aromatic vinyl monomer units (a1), 0.5 to 50% by mass of (meth)acrylate monomer units (a2) having an ester group of phenyl or substituted phenyl group, and 0 to 40% by mass of other monomer units (a3) (with the proviso that the total of the units (a1) to (a3) is 100% by mass) and having a weight average molecular weight of 5000 to 150000. The flowability improver can improve engineering plastics in melt-flow characteristics (processability in molding) and chemical resistance without impairing the plastics in heat resistance, exfoliation resistance, and transparency.

The thermoplastic resin composition of the present invention is obtained by graft polymerizing a monomer that composes a polymer that is compatible with or has affinity for polycarbonate resin in the presence of a polymer that is incompatible with polycarbonate resin; wherein, the weight average molecular weight of a soluble component that dissolves in chloroform is 10,000 to 100,000. In the case of using this thermoplastic resin composition in an engineering plastic, fluidity can be improved without impairing the characteristics of the engineering plastic. The engineering plastic composition of the present invention is preferably used in the field of housings and various parts of OA equipment, telecommunications equipment and home appliances such as photocopiers, facsimiles, televisions, radios, tape recorders, video decks, personal computers, printers, telephones, information terminals, refrigerators and microwave ovens, as well as in other fields such as automotive parts.

Thermoplastic resin composition and engineering plastic composition

The present invention relates to a thermoplastic resin composition which has an improved impact resistance while maintaining mechanical properties such as strength and rigidity. In the present invention, a thermoplastic resin (A) is mixed with a polytetrafluoroethylene-containing mixed powder (B) consisting of a polytetrafluoroethylene (b1) having a particle diameter of 10 &#x3bc;m or less and an organic polymer (b2). In this case, the polytetrafluoroethylene-containing mixed powder (B) is mixed so that the amount of a polytetrafluoroethylene component is from 0.0001 to 20 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the thermoplastic resin (A), and a polymer having an epoxy group was used as the organic polymer (b2). The thermoplastic resin composition of the present invention can be widely used in the fields of automotive parts, electric and electronic parts, and precision instrument parts.

A polycarbonate-based thermoplastic resin composition is characterized by comprising a polycarbonate and a substantially gel-free polymer obtained by polymerizing an aromatic vinyl monomer in the presence of a polymer obtained by polymerizing a specific alkyl (meth)acrylate, an aromatic vinyl monomer, and a monomer having two or more unsaturated groups. The composition has excellent moldability (flowability, etc.) while having the intact mechanical properties (impact strength, etc.) inherent in the polycarbonate and has an excellent balance between moldability and mechanical properties. Due to the excellent balance, the composition enables size increase and thickness reduction in molded articles in various fields, especially in the field of domestic electrical appliances and housings for OA apparatuses. The composition is of great industrial value.

Polycarbonate-based thermoplastic resin composition and process for producing the same

A melt tension enhancer for polyolefin resins that contains polytetrafluoroethylene and a polymer of an alkyl (meth)acrylate of 5-30 carbon atoms, and a process for its production. Its addition to polyolefin resins enhances the melt tension of the polyolefin resins without impairing the surface appearance of their molds.

A polytetrafluoroethylene-containing powder mixture comprising polytetrafluoroethylene particles (A) with a particle size 10 .mu.m or smaller and organic polymer particles (B), thermoplastic resin compositions containing it, and molded articles obtained therefrom. The polytetrafluoroethylene-containing powder mixture provides higher dispersibility for polytetrafluoroethylene in thermoplastic resins, and is effective for improving the molding workability and mechanical properties of thermoplastic resins.

A polyorganosiloxane graft copolymer obtained by graft-polymerizing one or more kinds of monomer which have an ethylenically unsaturated bond and contain at least an epoxy group-containing vinyl monomer onto a compound rubber in which a polyorganosiloxane rubber and a polyalkyl (meth)acrylate rubber have been inseparably united with each other, and in which the component derived from the epoxy group-containing vinyl monomer occupies a proportion of 1 to 30 wt. % of the whole graft copolymer. This polyorganosiloxane graft copolymer is excellent in impact resistance, low-temperature characteristics and weather resistance, and also excellent in the bond strength to paint film applied thereto. This graft copolymer is also useful as adhesives, and particularly it exhibits excellent adhesion performance in depositing aromatic polymers such as polyesters (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate), polyphenylene oxides, polyphenylene sulfides, etc.

A polyarylene sulfide resin composition excellent in compatibility between a polyarylene sulfide resin and a polyorganosiloxane graft copolymer is obtained by melt-mixing a composition consisting essentially of 60 to 99 parts by weight of a polyarylene sulfide resin, to 40 parts by weight of a polyorganosiloxane graft copolymer which was obtained by graft-polymerizing one or more kinds of a vinyl monomer onto particles of a compound rubber consisting of a polyorganosiloxane rubber component and a polyalkyl (meth)acrylate rubber component inseparably united with each other, and 0.01 to 10 parts by weight of and organic silane compound having an epoxy group per 100 parts of the mixture.

A polyester resin composition obtained by blending 60 to 99 parts by weight of a thermoplastic polyester resin (component A), 1 to 40 parts by weight of a polyorganosiloxane graft copolymer (component B) of 0.08 to 0.6 .mu.m in average particle size obtained by graft-polymerizing one or more kinds of vinyl monomer onto a compound rubber having such a structure that 1 to 99 wt. % of a polyorganosiloxane rubber component and 99 to 1 wt. % of a polyalkyl (meth)acrylate rubber component, the total amount of both the rubber components being 100 wt. %, have been inseparably entangled with each other, the total amount of the components A and B being 100 parts by weight, and 0.01 to 10 parts by weight of an organic silane compound having an epoxy group (component C). The polyester resing composition of the present invention is excellent in impact resistance, particularly impact strength at low temperatures, gives molded products having a good appearance, and also can be used under severer conditions and in a wider range than before.
