A secondary battery having a cathode, an anode, and an electrolyte is provided. The cathode includes a cathode active material containing at least one kind selected from the group consisting of sulfur S and phosphorus P in a portion near the particle surface of a lithium composite oxide. A content of the kind in the portion is larger than that in the particle of the lithium composite oxide.

An electrolytic solution and a battery capable of improving cycle characteristics are provided. A separator is impregnated with an electrolytic solution. The electrolytic solution includes a cyclic carbonate derivative having a halogen atom such as 4-fluoro-1,3-dioxolane-2-one or 4-chloro-1,3-dioxolane-2-one and a cyclic imide salt such as 1,1,2,2,3,3-hexafluoropropane-1,3-disulfonimide lithium. Thereby, the decomposition reaction of the electrolytic solution can be inhibited, and the cycle characteristics can be improved.

An anode and a battery capable of improving battery characteristics such as cycle characteristics are provided. A coating containing at least one from the group consisting of oligomers having a polyene structure and derivatives thereof is provided on the surface of an anode active material layer. By the coating, oxidation of the anode active material layer is inhibited, and decomposition reaction of the electrolytic solution is inhibited.

An electrolytic solution capable of improving battery characteristics even at high temperature, and a battery using the electrolytic solution are provided. A separator is impregnated with an electrolytic solution. The electrolytic solution includes a cyclic imide salt such as 1,1,2,2,3,3-hexafluoropropane-1,3-disulfonimide lithium and a light metal salt such as difluoro[oxalato-O,O'] lithium borate or bis[oxalato-O,O&#x2032;] lithium borate. Thereby, the decomposition reaction of the electrolytic solution can be prevented even at high temperature, and the battery characteristics can be improved.

A battery capable of improving the cycle characteristics and the swollenness characteristics is provided. The battery includes a cathode, an anode, and an electrolytic solution. The electrolytic solution is impregnated in a separator provided between the cathode and the anode. The anode has a coat on an anode active material layer provided on an anode current collector. The coat contains a metal salt. The metal salt has a hydroxyl group and at least one of a sulfonic acid group and a carboxylic acid group. Thereby, lithium ions are easily inserted in the anode and extracted from the anode, and decomposition of the electrolytic solution is prevented.

A battery capable of improving battery characteristics such as cycle characteristics and high temperature storage characteristics is provided. An anode includes an anode active material which includes Sn or Si as an element. A separator is impregnated with an electrolyte solution, and the electrolyte solution includes an acid anhydride such as succinic anhydride or a derivative thereof. Thereby, a coating is formed on the anode, and the decomposition of the electrolyte solution in the anode can be prevented. An electrolyte solution to which 4-fluoro-1,3-dioxolane-2-one is mixed is more preferably used.

A battery capable of improving battery characteristics such as cycle characteristics is provided. An electrolytic solution is impregnated in a separator. The electrolytic solution contains 4-fluoro-1,3-dioxolane-2-one. Fluorine ion content in the electrolytic solution is preferably from 10 weight ppm to 3200 weight ppm. Thereby, chemical stability of the electrolytic solution is improved, and cycle characteristics are improved. The present invention is effective for the case using an anode active material containing Sn or Si as an element for an anode.

A nonaqueous electrolytic solution secondary battery includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolytic solution having an electrolyte salt dissolved in a nonaqueous solvent. The nonaqueous solvent contains 80% by mass or more of a cyclic carbonate which does not have a carbon-carbon multiple bond and which does not contain a halogen and contains a cyclic sulfone compound having any one of structures represented by the following formulae (1) to (4): wherein each of R1 and R2 represents CHwhere 1&#x2266;m&#x2266;4. Also, each of R3 to R10 independently represents CHwhere 1&#x2266;n&#x2266;4.

Nonaqueous electrolytic solution secondary battery

A positive electrode for a lithium-ion secondary battery includes a positive-electrode mixture layer, which includes a positive-electrode active material containing lithium composite oxide, a conductive material, and a binder, and a current collector. The positive-electrode mixture layer contains a compound including sulfur and/or phosphorous, a first polymer serving as a main binder, and a second polymer different from the first polymer.
