An electric power supplying device includes a main power supply that supplies electric power to each component of an apparatus, an auxiliary power supply that supplies electric power to an assisted component in the apparatus, the assisted component requiring power supply during start-up time of the apparatus and having a whose start-up time being equal to or longer than a predetermined period of time, a discharging control circuit that controls the auxiliary power supply to cause the auxiliary power supply to output a voltage, the output voltage being lower than a voltage output by the main power supply and being equal to or more than a lower limit voltage of a voltage range that the assisted component is operable, and a power supply prevention circuit that prevents the auxiliary power supply from supplying power to a component other than the assisted component in the apparatus.

A storage unit stores therein a first correction amount and a second correction amount for correcting a first output amount of a first device. A correcting unit corrects, when the first output amount is smaller than a first target value, the first output amount based on a second output amount of a second device that is operated by the first output amount, a second target value of the second output amount, and the first correction amount, and otherwise, the first output amount based on the second correction amount. A power source is disclosed. The power source includes a first power source applying a first voltage to a control unit and a second power source applying a second voltage to a unit controlled by the control unit. The power source includes a first power supplying unit, which includes a main power switch and a first relay and supplies electric power to the first power source, and a second power supplying unit, which includes the main power switch and a second relay and supplies the electric power to the second power source. The electric power is supplied to the first power source by turning on the main power switch, and the first relay is turned on by a voltage output from the second power source. The electric power is supplied to the second power source by turning on the second relay by a voltage output from the first power source.

A copying area display device for a copier and allowing the operator to easily position a document on a glass platen. The device displays an effective image reading area which is easy to see. When a cover plate is opened, a carriage included in a scanner is moved to one of four sides of the effective image reading area. Scales, lamps or movable marks are arranged around the glass platen and on the carriage. Alternatively, a liquid crystal display may be built in or superposed on the glass platen to display the contour of an effective image reading area. When the cover plate is closed, the scanner is returned to a home position thereof.
