A technology for reducing the so-called 'phosphor burn-in' phenomenon where the variation of luminance arises by reducing display luminance of a certain pixel caused by deterioration in a display apparatus constituted by an organic electro luminescence element is provided. In the display apparatus, when displaying an image acquired by an image acquiring unit, luminance substantially same as average luminance of the acquired image is set to a non-display area where the image is not displayed.

Organic electro luminescense display apparatus and application thereof

A display apparatus includes an RGB-RGBX signal converter having a variable RGB-RGBX conversion ratio and configured to convert an RGB signal into an RGBX signal. An RGBX type self light-emitting display is configured to display video, based on the RGBX signal obtained by the RGB-RGBX signal converter. A controller is configured to control the RGB-RGBX conversion ratio utilized for converting the RGB signal into the RGBX signal, in accordance with a display position of the RGB signal.

Display apparatus

A display device has: an RGB-RGBW conversion circuit that converts RGB signals fed thereto into RGBW signals; a display panel that has a plurality of dots each composed of four, namely R, G, B, and W, unit pixels and that displays an image based on the RGBW signals; a defect position specifier that specifies, if a unit pixel is found defective, a position of the defective pixel on the display panel; and a conversion rate controller that controls the rate at which, when the RGB signals are converted into the RGBW signals, the RGB signals are converted into a W signal according to the position of the defective pixel. If the defective pixel is a W pixel, the conversion rate for pixels adjacent thereto is made lower than the standard conversion rate set for the entire display panel.

An uneven display correction method including a first step of dividing a display area of a display panel into a plurality of unit areas, the first step setting one arbitrary unit area among the unit areas at a reference area, the first step previously determining a value as a correction parameter in each unit area, the value corresponding to a difference between a light-emission start gradation level of the unit area and the light-emission start gradation level of the reference area; and a second step of correcting an input video signal based on the correction parameter determined in each unit area.

The present invention provides a display device comprising a display having an arrangement of a plurality of pixels, a drive IC for supplying to each pixel of the display data voltage or data current corresponding to a video signal fed from the outside, comparing/calculating unit for supplying the video signal to the drive IC, and a current monitor unit for measuring the total quantity of currents to have been passed through a plurality of pixels of the display. The comparing/calculating unit derives the sum of currents to be passed through each pixel of the display based on the values of the video signals for each pixel of the display, to correct the video signals for each pixel of the display based on the derived value and measurement value obtained by the current monitor unit.

The invention provides an organic LED display device of the digital drive type which has a display panel comprising a plurality of pixels. In a pixel circuit composing a digital-driven organic EL display device, an organic light emitting element which emits light by the supply of electric current, and two driving transistors for controlling the supply of electric current to the organic light emitting element are connected in series. The driving transistor functions as an electric current adjustment element which adjusts an electric current flowing through the organic light emitting element. When the electric current flowing through the organic light emitting element decreases by the degradation of the organic light emitting element, decrease in temperature and the like, the driving transistor acts for increasing the electric current.

A ramp voltage generating apparatus according to the present invention includes a ramp voltage generating circuit for generating a plurality of ramp voltages out of phase with each other from one ramp voltage, and a control circuit. The ramp voltage generating circuit includes a plurality of voltage generating circuit portions connected in parallel to a voltage input terminal. Each voltage generating circuit portion includes a voltage output terminal, a capacitor, an operational amplifier, a first switch, a second switch and a third switch. The control circuit turns on the third switches while shifting the time point of switching each of the third switches from off to on state, and the control circuit turns off the first switches and, also, turns on the second switches during the period including the fall time point of the ramp voltage input to the voltage input terminal.

A three-dimensional display comprising a flat light source, a vertical striped filter having slits transmitting light from the light source and barriers screening the light from the light source alternately formed therein for partially transmitting the light from the light source, and an LCD panel arranged on the light emission side of the vertical striped filter and having left eye pixels and right eye pixels alternately formed therein, light passing through the left eye pixels in the LCD panel and light passing through the right eye pixels being emitted toward a observer in a separated state.

Three-dimensional display

The 2-D/3-D compatible type image display according to the present invention is constructed by arranging a liquid crystal panel which is a display panel, a dispersed type liquid crystal panel which is a diffusing effect on/off panel, a light separating means, a backlight which is a plane light source, so as to be nearer to an observer in this order. It is possible by processing the image signal supplied to the liquid crystal panel to form a first group of pixels lined in longitudinal direction of a picture and a second group of pixels lined in the same direction of the picture alternately formed in horizontal direction, and to make the first group of pixels and the second group of pixels have different observing points respectively as left eye pixels and right eye pixels (when 3-D images are displayed), or to make the first group of pixels and the second group of pixels have the same observing points with each other (when 2-D images are displayed). When 3-D images are displayed, light from the light separating means is transmitted by making diffusing effect off. When 2-D images are displayed, light from the light separating means is diffused by making diffusing effect on.

Two-dimensional/three-dimensional compatible type image display

The present invention is directed to a three-dimensional display panel capable of viewing a three-dimensional image without using special glasses. The three-dimensional display panel comprises an image display panel having a column of right eye pixels arranged with predetermined spacing in the longitudinal direction on a screen and a column of left eye pixels arranged with predetermined spacing in the longitudinal direction on the screen and so adapted that the column of right eye pixels and the column of left eye pixels are arranged alternately in close proximity to each other in the horizontal direction on the screen and are shifted from each other in the longitudinal direction on the screen to ensure a region where means for switching the respective pixels is formed, and image separating means for separating light from the right eye pixels and light from the left eye pixels to be respectively incident on the right eye and the left eye of a viewer.
