Methods and washing tools are for combined cleaning of an annulus in a well across a longitudinal section of the well, and subsequent plugging of the longitudinal section. The method comprises: (A) conducting a perforation tool into a casing to the longitudinal section; (B) forming holes in the casing along the longitudinal section; (C) a washing tool conducted into the casing on a tubular work string, pumping a washing fluid through the tubular work string and out into the casing via the washing tool; (D) a directional device associated with the washing tool, conducting the washing fluid out into the annulus via a hole at a first location within the longitudinal section, after which the washing fluid will flow via the annulus and onward into the casing via a hole formed in at least one second location within the longitudinal section; (E) pumping a fluidized plugging material out into the casing at the longitudinal section; and (F) placing the plugging material in the casing and in the annulus along the longitudinal section so as to plug the casing and the annulus.

Method for combined cleaning and plugging in a well, a washing tool for directional washing in a well, and uses thereof

A tubing plug is preinstalled in a premium connection that allows support for the plug outside the drift dimension of the tubulars above and below. The plug is supported in a rotationally locked manner to avoid turning when being milled out. The plug shape internally comprises gentle sloping walls rather than surfaces in alignment with the longitudinal axis of the tubular to allow smaller cuttings to be produced that can be caught on a magnetic sub or circulated to the surface. Because the plug is supported in a zone outside the drift dimension of the adjacent tubulars, milling out the plug does not reduce the drift of the tubular assembly in which the plug was initially mounted. Seals can be provided for bubble tight sealing around the plug.

Millable pre-installed plug

A tool for removal of magnetic debris from a well bore, having a plurality of magnets retained in a plurality of recesses by a plurality of retainer caps which are threadable into the recesses. The retainer caps can be made of non-magnetic material, and non-magnetic spacers can be used, to isolate the magnets from the tool body and the surroundings. The retainer caps can be positioned entirely within the recesses, to streamline the tool body. The magnets can be removed from the recesses and replaced.

Downhole magnetic retrieval apparatus

A sand-capturing tool is disclosed, as well as a method. The tool relies on an eductor. The eductor is supplied by pumped fluid from the surface through a coiled tubing support for the tool. The eductor induces flow into a central tube in the tool which brings in with it the sand to be captured. Ultimately, the cross-sectional area of the induced fluid flow is increased to reduce its velocity and to further induce the sand which has been brought through the narrow inner tube to drop out into an annular area around the inner tube. The clean fluid exits through a screen and goes around the eductor and uphole to the surface. In an alternative embodiment, the assembly can be supported on an electric line employing a downhole pump which provides the motive fluid force for the eductor jet. In this embodiment, the remaining operation is the same.
