A control circuit for a PMDC motor used in an ice delivery apparatus, the circuit including a double pole double throw relay that switches both sides of the circuit and peripheral circuitry connected between a power source and the double pole double throw relay to rectify the power source and power the PMDC motor.

A bobbin for an electromagnetic inductive wire coil, to which at least one terminal is attached, has a hollow body with two opposite ends. A side flange is molded integrally to each one of the opposite ends. Each side flange has a plurality of corners and at least one reverse L-shaped rib configuration in at least one corner so that the rib configuration prevents rotation of the bobbin and breaking off of the terminal when a rotational force is applied to the terminal. Another reverse L-shaped rib configuration may be positioned upside down in another corner of each side flange. The reverse L-shaped rib configuration may have a third rib molded integrally thereto to form a reverse C-shaped rib arrangement to confine a rear end of the terminal. This confinement helps to prevent backward movement caused by a head-on force applied to a front end of the terminal.

A motor gear box has a direct current motor, a first bevel gear, a second bevel gear, a pinion transfer gear, at least one cluster gear, an output gear, an output shaft, and a collar abutting against the output gear and surrounding the output shaft. The motor gear box also includes a frame formed integrally with the collar, a first cover to protect the motor, and a second cover having a cradle formed integrally therein. The output shaft has at one end a stepped down shaft portion held in the cradle and at an opposite end a hollow internal chamber formed to receive a protuberance of a device requiring the delivery of high torque to carry out a task in a small space. A programmable control board is attached to one side of the motor; an electrode tip is arranged on a top of the motor; a lead harness assembly is secured around the electrode tip; and an L-shaped connection rod links the lead harness assembly to the control board to conserve space. A housing contains the direct current motor and has plural mounting tabs. A grommet is secured in each of the plural mounting tabs. The purpose of the grommets is to minimize noise and vibrations caused by high speed rotation of the direct current motor inside the housing.

A three-wire reversing system for a permanent magnet, reversible, brush-type, direct current (DC) motor has a three-wire alternating current (AC) input voltage source which supplies electrical current to at least one capacitive element. This capacitive element and the DC motor replace a permanent split capacitor (PSC) and an AC motor in a prior art three-wire reversing system.

In an electronic system, motor braking is accomplished by applying direct current (DC) voltage, developed across a capacitive element during a run mode operation, across terminals of an alternating current (AC) or an induction motor. While the motor is ON, i.e. during the run mode operation, a diode rectifies an AC input voltage applied across a capacitor for charging thereof. Resistive elements in series with the capacitor control a charging rate thereof. When a relay or switch flips over to a STOP or OFF mode, i.e. a braking mode operation, all of the stored DC voltage, which was charged across the capacitor during the run mode operation, is dropped across a coil of the motor. This DC voltage creates an electric force applied to stop quickly and efficiently the motor shaft rotation. In preferred embodiments of the invention, it was found that the higher the capacitance of the electrolytic capacitor, the faster and more efficient the stopping action will be for the motor.

A high torque resistant and strong screwless plastic gear box has a reduced thickness at its output shaft. The gear box and a reduction drive assembly therein may be used particularly, but not exclusively, in a slot machine with a spinning drum or hopper which holds coins or tokens to be released therefrom. The gear box includes a main body and a cover which is ultrasonically welded thereto. Locating posts, holding tubes, inner welding pads, outer surrounding tubes, and locating ribs are provided to weld the cover to the main body. Acoustical chambers are formed between outer walls and inner arcuate walls of the main body. The inner arcuate walls surround all of the shafts and gears inside the main body. This double-walled construction reduces noise and provides surprising mechanical strength. All of the gears are mounted on only three shafts secured between the main body and the cover. Four of the gears are stacked on a single central shaft and rotate in two pairs independently of each other.
