A pigment composition obtainable by dry-milling an organic pigment in the presence of a resin for a printing ink, the resin being composed of a synthetic resin for a printing ink in an amount of 10 to 80 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the organic pigment and an aliphatic hydrocarbon resin which is extracted from gilsonite and has a softening point of 120 to 125&#xb0; C. in an amount of 0.1 to 5 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the organic pigment.

Pigment composition and printing ink containing the same

There are disclosed a pigment composition comprising a dry-milled pigment, a water-soluble resin, and a nonionic surfactant composed of a compound having an acetylenic linkage; and a method for producing a pigment composition, comprising dry-milling a pigment containing coarse particles in the presence of a water-soluble resin and a nonionic surfactant composed of a compound having an acetylenic linkage. The production method is also possible in the form of comprising (a) dry-milling a pigment containing coarse particles in the presence of a nonionic surfactant composed of a compound having an acetylenic linkage thereby obtaining an intermediate milled product, and (b) further dry-milling a mixture of the intermediate milled product and a water-soluble resin. For producing an aqueous pigment dispersion product, there is also disclosed herein a method comprising the steps of (a) dry-milling a pigment containing coarse particles in the presence of a water-soluble resin thereby obtaining a milled product, and (b) dispersing the milled product in water in the presence of a nonionic surfactant composed of a compound having an acetylenic linkage.

Pigment composition and aqueous pigment dispersion product using the same

The present invention provide a pigment composition and a method for producing same at low cost, which has the same or more excellent quality compared with those produced by a salt milling process which has been commonly used. The pigment composition is produced by dry-milling a pigment in the presence of a surfactant and a water-soluble resin, said surfactant and said water-soluble resin being contained in amounts of 1 to 20% by weight and 2 to 50% by weight respectively based on an amount of the pigment. The pigment composition according to the present invention is readily dispersed into an aqueous system to obtain an aqueous pigment dispersion.

A process for the production of a dis-azo pigment having excellent dispersibility, high tinting strength and high masking strength, by a simple method under an improved working environment, which is improved in a drying step and can omit the pulverization step of a conventional process, the present process comprising (a) a first step of forming an aqueous paste or slurry containing a synthesized dis-azo pigment into fine particles under hot air at 100.degree. to 300.degree. C. for a short period of time within 0.5 hour, and at the same time, removing water from the formed fine particles to form a powder, and (b) a second step of keeping the powder under heat at 50.degree. to 150.degree. C. for 0.5 to 10 hours.

A phthalocyanine pigment composition comprising (A) 100 parts by weight of phthalocyanine pigment, (B) a specific phthalocyanine derivative and (C) a polyvalent metal salt of an anionic surface-active agent, the compounds (B) and (C) being contained in a molar ratio of 1:0.1-5 and totalling 0.5-30 parts by weight, the pigment composition being useful as a colorant in the preparation of coating materials and printing inks having excellent non-crystallization and non-flocculation as well as satisfactory fluidity, from which coating materials and printing inks are obtained coatings or films having remarkable gloss and high tinting strength.
