One variation of a system for locating electrodes on a head of a user includes a headset defining a set of electrode bodies elastically interconnected by a unique set of spring elements configured to locate the set of electrode bodies at electrode positions of the international 10-20 standard, irrespective of the size of the head of the user. The spring elements are configured to carry electrical signals between interconnected electrode bodies and ultimately to a controller. An electrode tip is mechanically and electrically coupled to each electrode body. The electrode tip comprises a thin conductive probe mounted at the distal end of an elastic beam and is configured to extend from a base of the electrode tip, bypass hair, and electrically couple to the head of the user, and an insulative boss, configured to rest on and transfer the weight of the headset to the head of the user.

One variation of a method for hosting mobile access to dense electroencephalography data includes: receiving a set of signals, in a raw resolution, recorded by a set of channels in an electroencephalography headset during an electroencephalography test; receiving, from a client computing device, a view parameters for viewing the set of signals on a display; calculating a quantity of raw signal points per pixel column of the display based on the view parameters and a length of a segment of the electroencephalography test; for each signal in the set of signals, for each discrete contiguous sequence of the quantity of raw signal points within the segment of the signal, calculating a value set characterizing the discrete contiguous sequence of the quantity of raw signal points in the signal; and generating a static image representing value sets for each channel, in the set of channels, across the segment of the electroencephalography test.

Method for hosting mobile access to high-resolution electroencephalography data

Disclosed are medical devices for sensing bioelectrical potential including an electroencephalography (EEG) headset, electrodes compatible therewith, and methods of operation thereof. The headset can comprise a left junction and a right junction, a plurality of length-adjustable bands connecting the left junction and the right junction, and a number of electrodes. Each of the electrodes can comprise an electrode body coupled to one of the plurality of length-adjustable bands and a detachable electrode tip configured to be detachably coupled to the electrode body. The electrode tip can comprise an electrode tip body, one or more deflectable electrode legs coupled to the electrode tip body, and a conductive cushioning material coupled to a segment of at least one of the one or more electrode legs. The conductive cushioning material can retain or be saturated with one or more conductors.

One variation of a system for collecting biosignal data includes: a left junction; a right junction; a first band spanning the left and right junctions; a first band adjuster configured to adjust a length of the first band between the left and right junctions; a second band spanning the left and right junctions and radially offset from the first band about a lateral axis spanning the left and right junctions; a second band adjuster configured to adjust a length of the second band between the left and right junctions; a first electrode fixedly mounted to the first band and centered between the left and right junctions; a second electrode mounted to the first band offset from the first electrode and laterally-adjustable along the length of the first band; and a third electrode mounted to the second band and laterally-adjustable along the length of the second band.

One variation of a method for testing contact quality of electrical-biosignal electrodes includes: outputting a drive signal through a driven electrode, the drive signal comprising an alternating-current component oscillating at a reference frequency and a direct-current component; reading a set of sense signals from a set of sense electrodes at a first time; calculating a first combination of the set of sense signals; calculating a first direct-current value comprising a combination of the first combination and the direct-current component of the drive signal at approximately the first time; and at a second time succeeding the first time, shifting the direct-current component of the drive signal output by the driven electrode to the first direct-current value.

One variation of a method for testing contact quality of electrical-biosignal electrodes includes: outputting a drive signal&#x2014;including an alternating-current component oscillating at a reference frequency and a direct-current component&#x2014;through a driven electrode; determining that a reference electrode is in improper contact with a user's skin if a reference signal read from the reference electrode excludes a first signal component oscillating at the reference frequency and a second signal component oscillating at an ambient frequency; determining that a sense electrode is in improper contact with the user's skin if the reference signal includes the first signal component and if a sense signal read from the sense electrode excludes a third signal component oscillating at the reference frequency; and generating an electrode adjustment prompt if one of the reference and sense electrodes is determined to be in improper contact with the user's skin.
