To provide a molded article which can have excellent strength, can also have high durability during repeated use, and can maintain high adsorption performance even when the content of a binder resin is reduced. A molded article containing cerium oxide particles and a binder resin, wherein cerium oxide particles which has an average particle diameter of 1 to 15 &#x3bc;m and in each of which a crystallite size is 40 to 200 &#x212b; are used.

Molded article

Provided is a novel coated phosphor capable of effectively suppressing the adverse effects of hydrogen sulfide gas generated by the reaction between a sulfur-containing phosphor and moisture in the air. Provided is a sulfur-containing phosphor having a configuration in which ZnO compound containing Zn and O is present on the surface of a sulfur-containing phosphor having a host material which includes sulfur.

A highly reliable light-emitting device is provided, which is capable of effectively suppressing detrimental effects of sulfuric gas. A light-emitting device comprising a solid light-emitting element, a metal memberreacting with sulfuric gas and a phosphor-containing layerthat contains a phosphor, the phosphor-containing layercontaining a sulfuric gas-adsorbing substancethat adsorbs sulfuric gas, and, when the phosphor-containing layeris tripartitioned from the side near the metal member to far into a proximal layer portion, an intermediate layer portion and an outer layer portion, the concentration of sulfuric gas-adsorbing substancein the proximal layer portion is made to be higher than those for the intermediate layer portion and the outer layer portion.

Light-emitting device

An emitting phosphor is provided, which can be excited by a blue LED or a near-UV LED, emit visible light and increase internal quantum efficiency. An emitting phosphor is proposed, comprising an orthorhombic crystal system comprising Ga and S, wherein the orthorhombic crystal system has, in an XRD pattern using a Cu K&#x3b1; beam, a proportion of the diffraction intensity of the maximum peak appearing at diffraction angle 2&#x3b8;=16.0 to 18.0&#xb0; with respect to the diffraction intensity of the maximum peak appearing at diffraction angle 2&#x3b8;=23.6 to 24.8&#xb0; of 0.4 or greater.

Emitting Phosphor

A green emitting phosphor exhibiting an excellent absorption ratio is provided. A green emitting phosphor containing a crystal represented by MGaS:Eu, wherein M is an element comprising one species or a combination of two or more species among Sr, Ba and Ca, and Euis a luminescent center, and wherein the particle diameter at 10%, D10, 4.5 &#x3bc;m to 30 &#x3bc;m in the volume-based particle size distribution measured and obtained by the laser diffraction/diffusion particle size distribution measurement method.

Green emitting phosphor

A green emitting phosphor is provided, allowing the internal quantum efficiency to be increased. The green emitting phosphor comprises a mother crystal containing Sr, Ga and S, and a luminescent center, characterized in that, in an XRD pattern, the ratio of the diffraction intensity of the maximum peak appearing at diffraction angle 2&#x3b8;=14 to 20&#xb0; over the diffraction intensity of the maximum peak appearing at diffraction angle 2&#x3b8;=21 to 27&#xb0; is 0.4 or greater.

A white phosphor is provided, which is a white phosphor comprising a single material, wherein the light-emitting center is one element other than Mn, and emitting white light having excellent color rendering properties by near ultraviolet excitation. The white phosphor is represented by the formula SrSMgZnSiO:Eu(with the proviso that when e=1, 0&#x3c;(c+d)/(a+c+d)&#x2266;0.2, 1.8&#x2266;a+c+d&#x2266;2.2, 0&#x2266;b/(b+f)&#x2266;0.07 and 3.0&#x2266;b+f&#x2266;4.4), among which, as one preferred example, the white phosphor is represented by the composition formula (SrOS).(MgZnO).(SiO):Eu(in the formula, 4.5&#x2266;x/y&#x2266;27.5, 3&#x2266;z/y&#x2266;14.5, 0&#x2266;&#x3b1;&#x2266;0.3 and 0&#x2266;&#x3b2;&#x2266;0.7) is proposed.

White phosphor, and white light-emitting equipment or device

A method for producing a blue phosphor, comprising firing a mixture for 2 to 24 hours at a temperature of 800&#xb0; C. or higher in an atmosphere of hydrogen sulfide, carbon disulfide, or an inert gas, the mixture containing a barium compound component, a silicon compound component, and a cerium compound component in quantitative proportions such that the atomic ratios of the components fulfill the equations 0.50&#x3c;Si/Ba&#x2266;0.70 and 0.0005 &#x2266;Ce/Ba&#x2266;0.03, or the mixture further containing a sulfur compound component in addition to these components. The blue phosphor has high color purity, high luminance, high chemical stability, and a low crystallization temperature, and is suitable for use in displays such as FED, PDP, and EL displays, or for use in the excitation of near-ultraviolet LED.
