A system and method of recording data from a number of devices in a distributed network system in a manner adaptable for auditing the device output. The devices may include one or more control, sensor, edge, or peripheral computing devices physically separate in the distributed network system and in communication with a control server. Such distributed networks systems are common in SCADA or IoT applications. The content stream of data records output from the devices are recorded; a payload stripped stream of data records which are stripped of the payload are recorded and preferably retained by an escrow service. The metadata of the data records includes the hash value of one or more predecessor data records. The hash values are calculated based on the payload and a linkage function, preferably a cryptographic function. A comparison of hash values of the payload stripped stream and the content stream provides the audit ability.

System and method for data management structure using auditable delta records in a distributed environment

A method, system, and computer program product for a diagnostic heartbeat throttling are provided in the illustrative embodiments. A component, executing using a processor and a memory in a data processing system, sends diagnostic heartbeat packets over a communication link at a first rate, wherein a diagnostic heartbeat packet is a packet comprises a header, a set of heartbeat parameters, and a set of diagnostic attributes. The component detects a change in data traffic over the communication link. The component changes a rate of sending diagnostic heartbeat packets from the first rate to a second rate responsive to the change in the data traffic over the communication link.

An infrastructure and methods for the analysis of flow in pipe systems. In a preferred form, the infrastructure and methods account for energy status of a sensor device and wear cost functions. The infrastructure comprises a controller and a plurality of sensor devices coupled to the pipe system to collect measurements related to one or more of the following: vibration, magnetic field, fluid pressure, temperature, humidity, chemical composition of the fluid, fluid flow or fluid throughput. The controller has access to a database containing one or both of&#x2014;(i) current energy status of a sensor device and/or (ii) a cost allocation relating to use of a sensor device and assigns workloads using energy status and/or cost.

Analysis of pipe systems with sensor devices

A retrofit device and method of installing such a device for supplementing a legacy flow meter in a fluid pipe system. The retrofit device enhances the function of the legacy flow meter by providing a digital interface and means for error diagnostics and tamper detection. The retrofit device adapts to the mechanical and casing form factor design of the legacy flow meter, particularly a flow meter already installed, such as buried in the ground.

The first component re-routes a synchronization message from the first component to the second component using a second communication link between the first and the second data processing systems.

Synchronizing a distributed communication system using diagnostic heartbeating

A method, system, and computer program product for improving a distributed application using diagnostic heartbeating are provided in the illustrative embodiments. An application, executing using a processor and a memory in a first data processing system, sends a registration to a component in the first data processing system. The registration requests state information for a set of member components in a distributed domain. After the application sends the registration to the component, the application receives the state information from the component. The state information includes current status and diagnostic information relating to the set of member components obtained from diagnostic attributes of diagnostic heartbeat packets received by the component. A diagnostic heartbeat packet is a packet comprising a header, a set of heartbeat parameters, and a set of diagnostic attributes.

Distributed application using diagnostic heartbeating

A first component, executing in a first data processing system, receives, over a data communication network using a first adapter, a first diagnostic heartbeat packet from a second adapter in a second data processing system. The first heartbeat packet comprises a header, a set of heartbeat parameters, and a set of diagnostic attributes. The first component determines, based on a set of values corresponding to the set of diagnostic attributes, that a soft network error condition exists in the data communication network. Communication system with diagnostic capabilities

Mechanisms are provided for performing a failover operation of an application from a faulty node of a high availability cluster to a selected target node. The mechanisms receive a notification of an imminent failure of the faulty node. The mechanisms further receive health information from nodes of a local failover scope of a failover policy associated with the faulty node. Moreover, the mechanisms dynamically modify the failover policy based on the health information from the nodes of the local failover scope and select a node from the modified failover policy as a target node for failover of an application running on the faulty node to the target node. Additionally, the mechanisms perform failover of the application to the target node based on the selection of the node from the modified failover policy.
