A method is described herein. The method is implemented by an optimization engine executed by a processor. The optimization engine receives data that includes performance metrics of mapping and ablation procedures. In turn, the optimization generates procedure expected outcomes for the mapping and ablation procedures based on the data and success predictions for a current ablation procedure utilizing the procedure expected outcomes. The optimization engine, also, outputs an ablation recommendation based on the success predictions.

Identification of ablation gaps

In one embodiment, a medical system includes a catheter configured to be inserted into a heart of a living subject, and including electrodes configured to capture electrical activity of the heart at respective position in the heart, a display, and processing circuitry configured to receive position signals from the catheter, and in response to the position signals compute the respective positions of the electrodes, generate an anatomical map responsively to respective ones of the computed positions, find an anatomical feature of the heart and a position of the anatomical feature responsively to the respective positions of, and electrical activity captured by, respective ones of the electrodes, automatically segment the anatomical map responsively to the found position of the anatomical feature, and render the anatomical map to the display.

Automatic anatomical feature identification and map segmentation

A method includes obtaining an electroanatomical map, which maps a portion of a heart while the heart experiences an arrhythmia, obtaining a sequence of images of the heart acquired by an ultrasonic probe, the sequence including one or more arrhythmic images acquired while the heart experiences the arrhythmia and one or more rhythmic images acquired while the heart is in sinus rhythm, the ultrasonic probe including a sensor that outputs, during the acquisition of the sequence of images, a signal indicating a location and an orientation of the probe in a coordinate system of the electroanatomical map, based on the signal, identifying, in one of the arrhythmic images, an anatomical portion represented by a particular portion of the electroanatomical map, by tracking the anatomical portion through the sequence of images, identifying the anatomical portion in at least one of the rhythmic images, and displaying an output in response thereto.

Systems and methods for tracking an anatomical focal point

Systems and methods are disclosed for linking a point-list to a three-dimensional anatomy of the heart. Techniques disclosed include recording a point-list, where each entry in the point-list comprises data elements, and is associated with a location in the heart and a measurement. The associated measurement is acquired by an electrode of a catheter that is placed at the associated location in the heart. Techniques disclosed further include selecting one or more anchor points associated with a region of interest in the heart, then, for each entry in the recorded point-list, computing a data element of distance between the entry's associated location in the heart and the selected one or more anchor points, and manipulating entries in the point-list based on their respective data elements.

Point-list linking to three-dimensional anatomy

Systems, devices, and techniques are disclosed for automatically generating CPM matrices. The system includes a plurality of body surface electrodes configured to sense electric signals and a processor comprising a neural network. The processor is configured to receive a plurality of historical CPM matrices, patient properties, and corresponding catheter locations, train a learning system based on the plurality of CPM matrices, patient properties, and corresponding catheter locations, generate a model based on the learning system, receive new patient properties at least in part from the plurality of body surface electrodes and generate new CPM matrices based on new patient properties at least in part from the plurality of body surface electrodes.

System and method to determine the location of a catheter

A method, includes receiving an anatomical map of a patient organ, the anatomical map including properties obtained at respective locations on a first surface of the organ. A design line produced on a second surface of the anatomical map, is received. One or more of the properties that, when falling along the design line, will be visualized thereon, are selected, and the one or more properties falling along the design line, are visualized.

Displaying annotations on design line formed on anatomical map

A method includes, receiving, on a surface of an anatomical map of a patient organ having a first presentation, a selection of a first selected region, which is intended to have a second presentation, different from the first presentation. A perimeter of the first selected region, and at least an unselected area positioned within the first selected region, are identified. A second selected region is produced, the second selected region includes the first selected region and the unselected area. The anatomical map, having the second presentation applied to the second selected region, is displayed.

Regional resolution in fast anatomical mapping

A method includes calculating a first medial-axis tree graph of a volume of an organ of a patient in a first computerized anatomical map of the volume, acquired at a first time. A second medial-axis tree graph is calculated, of a volume of the organ of the patient in a second computerized anatomical map of the volume, acquired at a second time that is different from the first time. A deviation is detected and estimated, between the first and second tree-graphs. Using the estimated deviation, the first and second medial-axis tree graphs are registered with one another. Using the registered first and second tree graphs, the first and second computerized anatomical maps are combined.

Automatic registration of an anatomical map to a previous anatomical map

Methods, apparatus and computer software products implement embodiments of the present invention that include applying energy to a probe that is in contact with tissue in a body cavity so as to ablate the tissue. While applying the energy, signals are received from a location transducer in the probe, which are indicative of a location of the probe in the cavity. The signals are processed so as to derive 3D location coordinate points corresponding to the location of the probe at a sequence of times during which the energy was applied. While applying the energy, a 3D representation of the body cavity is rendered to a display, and visual indicators are superimposed on the 3D representation, the visual indicators corresponding to the 3D location coordinate points at the sequence of times. Finally, a linear trace connecting the coordinate points in accordance with the sequence is superimposed on the 3D representation.

Catheter motion trace visualization

A system includes an input device and a processor. The processor is configured to add, to a point cloud representing an anatomical volume, multiple points corresponding to respective locations of a probe within the anatomical volume, to remove a subset of the points from the point cloud in response to an input received via the input device, subsequently to adding the points, and to add, to the point cloud, other points corresponding to respective subsequent locations of the probe within the anatomical volume, subsequently to removing the subset. Other embodiments are also described.

Real-time correction of anatomical maps

A method includes calculating a medial-axis tree graph of a volume of an organ of a patient in a computerized anatomical map of the volume. A predefined number of major branches in the tree graph are identified. Using the identified major branches, one or more known anatomical opening regions of the volume are identified in the anatomical map.

Automatic identification and processing of anatomical structures in an anatomical map

A system and method for clustering wavefront signals in an electrophysiological map of a cardiac tissue are provided. The system and method include receiving an electrophysiological map of the cardiac tissue, displaying propagation of the wavefront signals as a plurality of velocity vectors, discretizing the received electrophysiological map into a plurality of sections, clustering the velocity vectors into at least one group within each section based on predefined criteria, and generating a trend line representative of each group of clustered velocity vectors within each section in the electrophysiological map.

Systems and methods for clustering wavefront signals in electrophysiological maps

A method includes receiving an anatomical map of at least a portion of a heart. Positions and respective bipolar intracardiac electrogram (EGM) signals measured at the positions are received for at least a region of the anatomical map. Primary activations and secondary activations are identified in the bipolar intracardiac EGM signals. A surface representation of the bipolar intracardiac EGM signals over the region is derived, including the identified primary activations and secondary activations. The surface representation is presented overlaid on the anatomical map.

Visually differentiating primary and secondary activations on electrophysiological maps

Cardiac catheterization is conducted with a probe having a plurality of sensors. The heart is displayed as a first graphic image. Signals from the sensors are processed according to a predefined algorithm to generate respective outputs, A region on the first graphic image that is less than all of the first graphic image is selected according to locations of the sensors, and values derived from outputs of the sensors are displayed on the selected region as a second graphic image. Thereafter, the second graphic image is removed and replaced by an updated version.

Real time electroanatomical coloring of the heart

A method includes receiving an anatomical map of at least a portion of a heart. Positions and respective electrocardiogram (ECG) signal amplitudes measured at the positions are received for at least a region of the anatomical map. The ECG signal amplitudes are interpolated to derive a surface representation of the ECG signal amplitudes over the region. The surface representation of the ECG signal amplitudes is presented overlaid on the anatomical map.
