The present invention relates to a stereoscopic three dimensional visualization system, and particularly to a stereoscopic three dimensional visualization system for microdentistry, microsurgery, or industrial applications. In one exemplary embodiment, the present invention provides a plurality of cameras configured to provide a first stereoscopic image to a dentist or other professional and a second stereoscopic image to an assistant that has approximately the same focal point, but that is rotated by a predetermined angle from the first stereoscopic image. In one exemplary embodiment three cameras are utilized to create the stereoscopic images.

Stereoscopic three dimensional visualization system and method of use

The present invention provides a foot control unit having a plurality of switches for use by a dentist, surgeon, or other professional that is ergonomically designed to minimize body movement during activation and to prevent interruptions of the procedure being performed that may be caused by the same. In one exemplary embodiment, the design provides for the operator's, e.g., the dentist's, foot to be continuously and comfortably supported in a neutral muscular-skeletal position by a portion of the foot control unit both at rest and during activation. By providing the foot with a neutral muscular-skeletal position at rest, the position of each of the switches may be kept at a substantially minimal and substantially equal distance from a corresponding activating part of the foot. This allows for the foot control unit of the present invention to minimize muscular activities and movement during activation.

Foot actuated switch

A surgical microscope arrangement comprises a stand unit with a surgical microscope having an ocular unit and a tubular unit. The surgical microscope is carried by a stand unit in holding the ocular unit while allowing for pivoting of the tubular unit. When the tubular unit is pivoted, the ocular unit remains stationary. This can be achieved by providing an interface unit in the surgical microscope connecting the tubular unit with the ocular unit. The interface is formed as a rotary joint and includes a first portion which is to be connected to the ocular unit and the stand while the second portion of the interface unit is connected to the tubular unit of the microscope. The second portion of the interface unit can be pivoted with respect to the first portion of the interface unit.
