Compositions comprising a continuous phase of at least one polypropylene; within the range of from 5 wt % to 50 wt % of a mineral hydroxide filler by weight of the composition, having an aspect ratio within the range of from 5 or 6 or 8 to 20 or 40 or 100 or 200 or 800 or 1000; and within the range of from 5 wt % to 40 wt % of a olefin block-containing copolymer by weight of the composition. Also described is a method of forming the compositions comprising combining the components as 'masterbatches' or as neat ingredients, or some combination thereof.

Polypropylene compositions and methods to produce the same

A heterogeneous vulcanized polymer blend comprising a continuous phase comprising a thermoplastic polypropylene having a crystallinity of at least 30% and a dispersed phase comprising particles of an elastomeric copolymer dispersed in the continuous phase and having an average particle size of less than 5 micron. The elastomeric copolymer has a crystallinity of less than 20% and is at least partially cross-linked such that no more than about 80 wt % of the elastomeric copolymer is extractable in cyclohexane at 23&#xb0; C.

Vulcanized polymer blends

A heterogeneous in-situ polymer blend comprising a continuous phase comprising a polypropylene having a crystallinity of at least 30% and a melting point temperature Tgreater than 130&#xb0; C., and a heat of fusion &#x394;Hgreater than 65 J/g; and a dispersed phase comprising particles of an elastomeric copolymer dispersed in the continuous phase and having an average particle size of less than 5 micron, the elastomeric copolymer comprising ethylene units and 0.001 to 5 wt % diene by weight of the copolymer, and having a crystallinity of less than 20% and being at least partially cross-linked such that the degree of cross-link is at least 20%.

This invention relates to methods for producing an alkene terminated polystyrene, including: contacting a styrenic block copolymer and an alkene in the presence of a metathesis catalyst under conditions sufficient to produce an alkene terminated polystyrene having an unsaturation functionality of at least 0.7 and a MWD of about 1.5 or less. The blends may have between 1 and 50 wt % of isotactic polypropylene with a melt flow rate of between 0.5 and 20,000 g/10 min and a melting peak temperature of 145&#xb0; C. or higher, and wherein the difference between the DSC peak melting and the peak crystallization temperatures is less than or equal to 0.5333 times the melting peak temperature minus 41.333&#xb0; C., and between 50 and 99 wt % of ethylene-propylene copolymer including between 10 wt % and 20 wt % randomly distributed ethylene with a melt flow rate of between 0.5 and 20,000 g/10 min, wherein the copolymer is polymerized by a bulk homogeneous polymerization process, and wherein the total regio defects in the continuous propylene segments of the copolymer is between 40 and 150% greater than a copolymer of equivalent melt flow rate and wt % ethylene polymerized by a solution polymerization process.

An adhesive and method for hot melt application. The adhesive comprises polyolefin base polymer, from 1 to 10 wt % of at least one functionalized polyolefin, and from 1 to 15 wt % of a wax, based on the total weight of the polyolefin base polymer, functionalized polyolefin and wax, wherein the wax has a weight average molecular weight at least 8% of the weight average molecular weight of the polyolefin base polymer, viscosity at 190&#xb0; C. of 60 mPa&#xb7;s or more, and a crystallization temperature greater than the polyolefin base polymer and greater than 100&#xb0; C., and wherein the adhesive has at least 5% fiber tear at 2&#xb0; C., at least 50% fiber tear at 25&#xb0; C., and a characteristic set time of less than 3 seconds.

Polyolefin adhesive compositions

Provided is a heat-seal resin. The resin includes 5 wt % to 95 wt % of a first copolymer and 95 wt % to 5 wt % of a second copolymer based on the total weight of the resin. The first copolymer and the second copolymer together are 90 wt % or more of the total weight of the resin. The first copolymer includes a first monomer of an alphaolefin of 2 to 4 carbon atoms and a second monomer selected from a second monomer of an alphaolefin of 2 to 8 carbon atoms. The first monomer and the second monomer of the first copolymer are different. The first copolymer has an MFR of from 5 to 1000 g/10 minutes and a Tof 66&#xb0; C. to 80&#xb0; C. The second copolymer includes a first monomer of an alphaolefin of 2 to 4 carbon atoms and a second monomer selected from a second monomer of an alphaolefin of 2 to 8 carbon atoms. The first monomer and the second monomer of the second copolymer are different. The second copolymer has an MFR of from 0.5 to 5 g/10 minutes and a Tof 45&#xb0; C. to 66&#xb0; C., wherein the first copolymer has an MFR of at least 2 g/10 minutes greater and a Tof at least 10&#xb0; C. greater than the second copolymer. There is also a package formed partly or entirely of the resin.

A heterogeneous polymer blend comprises a dispersed phase comprising a thermoplastic first polymer having a crystallinity of at least 30% and a continuous phase comprising a second polymer different from the first polymer. The second polymer has a crystallinity of less than 20% and is at least partially cross-linked.

Heterogeneous polymer blend with continuous elastomeric phase and process of making the same

The present invention relates to a process for preparing a thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) comprising: contacting a thermoplastic polymer, a cross-linkable elastomer, at least one curative, and at least one cure activator in a solvent to form Composition A. The solvent is then removed, and thereafter the cross-linkable elastomer is at least partially cured. The average particle size of the cross-linkable elastomer is 10 microns or less after the solvent is removed.
