The invention relates to a method for operating an elevator system. The method comprises receiving a request to drive an elevator car to a destination and generating an elevator car motion profile to serve the received request. The elevator car motion profile comprises at least the following motion parameters of the elevator car: acceleration, maximum speed, and deceleration. At least one of the maximum speed of the elevator car and the deceleration of the elevator car in the generated elevator car motion profile is defined on the basis of the destination. The invention relates also to a processing unit and an elevator system configured to perform the method at least partly.

An elevator brake includes a frame part including an electromagnet; a moving armature movably supported on the frame part; at least one energy storage, such as a work spring, arranged between the frame part and the moving armature; a friction lining associated with the moving armature and fitted to engage a braking surface with a normal force originating from the at least one energy storage, to brake movement of an elevator car or to hold the elevator car standstill; and a sensor system including one or more sensors mounted into the elevator brake and adapted to sense one or more operational parameters of the elevator brake and/or to directly measure normal force of the friction lining.

An axial flux motor intended for fixing to a machine comprises a stator stack as well as a rotor installed to rotate with respect to the stator stack, which rotor determines the axis of rotation. The stator stack comprises sectional slots on the side intersecting the axis of rotation, preferably the sectional slots include radial sectional slots or are radial sectional slots and/or there are 6-12 of them. Into each respective sectional slot a fixing part can be installed, which at least in the direction of the axis of rotation shape-locks into the sectional slot in question. The present invention relates to an electric motor and to a method for manufacturing an electric motor. In the present invention the positions of the slots or poles of the stator of an electric motor are changed in order to reduce the harmonics caused by the stator winding and any vibration caused by these harmonics. In the present invention a shape function is defined according to the new placement positions for the stator slots and/or stator poles. A conversion function sums for the slot placement positions to be given to equidistant stator slotting placement. In one embodiment of the invention the conversion function is the sum of sinusoidal functions and in its amplitude small in relation to the distance between the slots.
