Technology providing seamless mobility to mobile processing devices in an Information Centric Network (ICN) is provided. A first point of attachment (PoA) is configured to communicate with a first processing device identified by a device ID and receive content objects addressed to the first processing device. The first PoA is further configured to determine that the first processing device is no longer communicating with the first PoA and moving to a second PoA, and generate a forwarding label identifying the second PoA and the device ID. The first PoA is further configured to append the forwarding label to any content object addressed to the first processing device and not forwarded by the first PoA to the first processing device before it moves, and forward each such content object to the second PoA.

Seamless consumer mobility in information centric networks using forwarding labels

A method performed by a user equipment (UE) for enabling cross-layer receiver oriented dynamic multicast in cellular access. The method includes receiving an information-centric networking content-identifier (ICN-CID) from an application. The method generates a content medium access control identifier (CMAC-ID) using the ICN-CID. The CMAC-ID maps the ICN-CID to a medium access control (MAC) layer.

Enabling cross-layer receiver oriented dynamic multicast in cellular access

The disclosure includes a method for an Information-Centric Networking (ICN) network. According to the method, a PoA receives registration information from a producer, where the registration information comprises a name prefix of the producer. The PoA sends a plurality of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) messages to a plurality of peers of the PoA, wherein at least some of the BGP messages respectively comprise a first mapping between the name prefix of the producer and an identifier of the PoA. By sending the BGP messages comprising the mapping to the plurality of peers, the PoA may efficiently make the plurality of peers to locate the producer.

A network element (NE) comprising a memory configured to store a digest log for a conference, a receiver coupled to the memory and configured to receive a first message from a first of a plurality of service proxies of the conference, wherein the first message comprises a signature profile of a first of a plurality of participants of the conference associated with the first service proxy, a processor coupled to the receiver and the memory and configured to track a state of the conference by updating the digest log according to the first message, and a transmitter coupled to the processor and configured to send a plurality of second messages to indicate the digest log update to the service proxies without a transmission request from the service proxies.

A network element (NE) includes a receiver configured to receive an Information-Centric Media Access Control (i-MAC) frame, a processor operably coupled to the receiver and configured to determine whether an i-MAC table includes routing information for the i-MAC Based Frame, and a transmitter operably coupled to the processor and configured to route the i-MAC Based Frame based on the i-MAC table when the i-MAC table includes information corresponding to the i-MAC Based Frame, and route the i-MAC Based Frame based on a layer 2 (L2) MAC Address Table when the i-MAC table does not contain information corresponding to the i-MAC Based Frame.

Method and apparatus for an information-centric MAC layer

A method implemented in a content node configured to operate in an information centric network (ICN) comprising allocating each of a plurality of memory spaces coupled to a processor exclusively to a particular thread from a plurality of threads allocated in the processor, wherein the processor is in a content node; assigning each of a plurality of namespaces at a defined level exclusively to one of the particular threads from the plurality of threads based on an assignment algorithm; and partitioning entries from a Forwarding Information Base (FIB) table, wherein the entries map content names to ports on the content node, wherein each entry is partitioned in a FIB sub-table to the memory space allocated to the one of the particular threads associated with the namespace corresponding to the content name contained within the entry.

Method and apparatus for policy based routing in information centric networking based home networks

Various disclosed embodiments include methods, systems, and computer-readable media for named data network (NDN) inter/intra-domain mobility. A complete de-coupling of identity and addressing space is established. This provides separation of control and forwarding allowing rich policy based routing, using SDN principles, as well as policy based global resolution. In one embodiment, the de-coupling of identity from location is achieved by a changeable forwarding label field in a header that can have nodal/domain/global scope. This disclosure provides content routing/mobility to be handled with a high degree of flexibility. This disclosure also provides mobility as a service for a component of a name space.

A content router, comprising a plurality of physical links to other nodes in an information centric network, a receiver coupled to the plurality of physical links configured to receive messages, a transmitter coupled to the plurality of physical links configured to transmit messages, and a service publishing and discovery (SPD) module comprising a processor and memory device coupled to the receiver and to the transmitter, wherein the SPD is configured to store status updates of the physical links, wherein the SPD is configured to determine a next hop and a number of hops to forward a received message based on a prefix in a name-based service discovery protocol name of a received message.
