A network based product design system and method allows product design. The system comprises a central processing unit capable of product design; at least one communication link allows selective two-way communication to the central processing means; and a network selectively interconnects and communicates the central processing unit to at least one party through the at least one communication link. Each party that is connected to the central processing unit is capable of providing input regarding a product design, the network being capable of allowing the input to be simultaneously viewed by each party so that input made by one party is capable of being accessed by at least one other party. The method for designing a product over a network comprises displaying a model on a central processing unit, the model being representative of the product that is to be designed; permitting two-way communication to the central processing unit over communication links; and selectively interconnecting and communicating the product design through the central processing unit to at least one party over the at least one communication links.

A cathode ray tube comprises a display and a funnel envelope. The funnel envelope comprises a thixotropic material. The thixotropic material thixotropic material is selected from at least one of thixotropic magnesium, thixotropic magnesium alloys, thixotropic aluminum, thixotropic aluminum alloys, or mixtures thereof or combinations.

Implosion-resistant cathode ray tube envelope

A ceramic casting shell mold having a pre-selected shape is described. The shell mold comprises repeating layers of a ceramic material which define its wall thickness and shape. At least one of the layers of ceramic material contains refractory whiskers which provide structural reinforcement to the shell mold. The whiskers are usually incorporated into a layer of the ceramic material which is disposed at a position off-center of the wall-thickness of the mold. A method for making a ceramic casting shell mold is also described, as are metal- or metal alloy components cast in these shell molds.

Reinforced ceramic shell mold and related processes

A plasma display comprises a face plate; at least one energy source; a first layer comprising pigmented phosphors; and a second layer comprising non-pigmented phosphors. The at least one energy source emits energy that is capable of exciting the non-pigmented phosphors of the second layer. Thus, the non-pigmented phosphors of the second layer emit energy comprising visible light. The first layer comprising the pigmented phosphors acts as a filter to filter the emissions from the non-pigmented phosphors of the first layer. Therefore, the plasma display has at least an increase in contrast of the energy emitted therefrom.
