The present invention provides 4-Aza-2,3-didehydropodophyllotoxin compound of general formula A (4a-4z and 4aa-4ae) as useful potential antitumour agents against human cancer cell lines. The present invention further provides a process for the synthesis of 4-Aza-2,3-didehydropodophyllotoxin compounds (4a-4z and 4aa-4ae). 

4-Aza-2, 3-didehydropodophyllotoxin compounds and process for the preparation thereof

The present invention provides compounds of general formula (3) as useful potential antitumour agents against human cancer cell lines. The present invention further provides a process for the synthesis of 4&#x3b2;-acrylamidopodophyllotoxin congeners of general formula (3), wherein R and R1 are an aryl group and R is selected from 3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl or 2-methoxy phenyl and R1 is selected from the group consisting of 4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl, 3-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl, 4-fluoro-3-methoxyphenyl, 3-fluoro-4-methoxyphenyl, 2-fluoro-5-methoxyphenyl, 2-fluoro-4-methoxyphenyl, 4-hydroxy-3-nitrophenyl, 4-methoxy-3-nitrophenyl, 4-nitrophenyl, 3-nitrophenyl, 2-nitro phenyl, 4-methoxyphenyl, 3-methoxyphenyl and 4-hydroxyphenyl. 

Substituted 4-&#x3b2;-acrylamidopodophyllotoxin congeners as antitumour antibiotics and the process for preparation thereof

The present invention provides novel &#x3b2;-amino podophyllotoxin congeners of general formula (A); R=CH, or H; R=(a) or (b) or (c) or (d) or (e) or (f). The present invention also provides a process for the preparation of 4&#x3b2;-amino podophyllotoxin congeners useful as antitumour agents.

The present invention provides new class of 4&#x3b2;-[4&#x2033;-(1&#x2033;,3&#x2033;-benzothiazole-2&#x2033;-yl)anilino]podophyllotoxin analogues having the structural formula as follows (4).  Where R&#x2550;H or CH; R&#x2550;H, halogen, CHand R&#x2550;H, halogen, OCH. The present invention also provides a process for the preparation of new 4&#x3b2;-[4&#x2033;-(1&#x2033;, 3&#x2033;-benzothiazole-2&#x2033;-yl)anilino]podophyllotoxin analogues as useful anticancer agents. More particularly, it provides a process for the preparation of 4&#x3b2;-[4&#x2033;-(1&#x2033;,3&#x2033;-benzothiazole-2&#x2033;-yl)anilino] derivatives of podophyllotoxin. The process for the synthesis of new podophyllotoxin analogues as anticancer agents produces the novel and stereo-selective derivatives of the podophyllotoxin in good yields, where in the key step for the synthesis of these analogues is by direct nucleophilic substitution of C-4&#x3b2;-iodo intermediates. The 4&#x3b2;-iodopodophyllotoxin, which has been reacted with substituted or unsubstituted 4-(1,3-benzothiazole-2-yl)aniline in a stereo-selective manner to afford the 4&#x3b2;-[4&#x2033;-(1&#x2033;,3&#x2033;-benzothiazole-2&#x2033;-yl)anilino] derivatives of podophyllotoxin.
