Application management is facilitated by observing messages communicated amongst virtual applications external to application-hosting virtual machines. In one instance, the messages can be observed from within a virtual switch outside hosting virtual machines. One or more actions can subsequently be performed as a function of the messages such as but not limited to application monitoring as well as message routing, filtering, and/or transformation.

Feedback data can be received from client agents running on client computer systems. The feedback data can include data on the symptoms and conditions for rules that relate computer system symptoms to computer system conditions. The feedback data can be analyzed to produce correlation information that quantifies a degree of correlation between the symptom(s) and condition(s) related by the rule(s). It may be determined whether analysis of the feedback data warrants including one of the rules in correlation mappings to be applied to monitored computer systems. If so, then that rule can be included in the mappings. Information representing the correlation mappings may be transmitted to the monitored computer system(s). Additionally, information representing the correlation mappings may be transmitted to the monitored computer system(s), and types of feedback data collected from the client agents can be altered on the basis of the correlation information.

Feedback-based symptom and condition correlation

A system and method is described for generating a test bed that is useful in developing, testing and/or supporting the use of software, such as software used for managing IT processes and/or monitoring equipment in an enterprise network. The system and method operates by processing a manifest to generate an instance space model of a computer network, wherein the manifest refers to a type space model of a computer network and includes an encoding that conveys parameters that are used to inflate the type space model of the computer network into the instance space model of the computer network. The type space model may comprise an object-relational directed graph that describes a plurality of potential directed graph instances and the instance space model may comprise one of the plurality of potential directed graph instances.

Software test bed generation

A change management system for managing configurable devices such as computer systems uses a set of rules for validating change requests, linking change requests, and determining inconsistencies within various configuration states. Analysis and validation may happen at the time the change request is created with respect to the current environment, as well as analysis and validation with respect to other pending requests and proposals, and historical actual states. The maintenance of accurate and consistent state and change information may enable various automated tools to analyze and manipulate change requests, including analysis of future desired states, historical actual states, pending change requests, and current state. The change request may be processed through an approval cycle all the while being incorporated into a scheduling system that may be used to detect inconsistent, illogical or harmful configurations in potential future configurations.

Configuration change management tool

A system and method for monitoring processes corresponding to measurable values based on signatures associated with the measurable values is provided. The signatures can be created based on data from auxiliary data sets or auxiliary data sources. Additional monitoring information can be obtained by collecting dimensional data for the measurable values.
