The present invention relates to the field of bio-artificial liver technology. Particularly, the invention provides an integrated hybrid bio-artificial liver support system that provides the features of artificial liver assist devices with that of bio-artificial liver support systems.

The invention deals with multi-states nonvolatile opto-ferroelectric memory element and method of preparing the same thereof. This invention describes multi-states nonvolatile opto-ferroelectric memory element consisting of opto-ferroelectric memory material comprised of Pb(BiLi)(TiZr)O, wherein x=0.2 to 0.8 and y=0.2 to 0.6, said memory material (PBLZT) photovoltaic ferroelectric material is characterized by a single-phase opto-ferroelectric materials, photovoltaic and multi-states ferroelectric memory material. The invention relates to process of preparing multi-states nonvolatile opto-ferroelectric memory material by solid route, solution-gel process and pulsed laser process. It describes development of multi-states nonvolatile opto-ferroelectric memory material at room temperature. Invention describes a ferroelectric material whose polarization is switched by white light and low power LASER (10-50 mW) with wavelength (405 nm).

Disclosed herein are biodegradable hydrogel scaffolds for use in tissue engineering. The hydrogel scaffolds are composed of synthetic terpolymers complexed with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), which facilitate cell-sheet and tissue growth. In the presence of a monosaccharide, the PVA-hydrogel is dissolved and cell-sheets are released for harvesting. Further disclosed herein are methods for producing PVA hydrogels which support tissue growth. Tissue engineering applications and methods are also disclosed.

Hydrogel scaffolds for tissue engineering

The present invention relates to a cryogel which contains a polyol selected from polyvinyl alcohol or galactomannan and a co-polymer of Formula I:  The cryogel is formed by mixing the monomers of the co-polymer of Formula I at a temperature of less about 5 degrees C. with the polyol and a free radical initiator in an aqueous solution and polymerizing the solution to form the cryogel. The cryogel is used for culturing cells and can be decomposed by contact with a monosaccharide.
