An assembly mountable on a dipper stick of a machine having a tool pivotally connected thereto and means operatively interconnecting the dipper stick and the tool for pivoting the tool relative to the dipper stick, cooperable with the tool for grappling objects, generally consisting of an arm member having a first section connectable to an underside of the dipper stick for pivotal movement about a second axis and a second section connectable to the first section for pivotal movement relative to the first arm section about a third axis, one of the arm sections having a curved bearing surface with a notch therein and the other of the arm sections having a roller biased against the bearing surface whereby the roller may be received in the notch to displaceably position the second arm section relative to the first arm section in a certain relationship, and ride on portions of the curved bearing surface upon a force in a certain direction as being applied to the second arm member causing the roller to ride out of the recess against the biasing force acting thereon; and a chain connected at one end to the second arm section and connectable at an opposite end thereof to the dipper stick.

Grapple assembly for excavating machines and the like

In an assembly mountable on a machine, including an implement provided with a pair of mounting brackets each having a pair of opposed pin receiving recesses, a dipper stick operatively connected to the machine for selected movement and having a first connecting pin rotatably mounted in an end thereof and receivable in one of the implement recesses, a fluid actuated cylinder assembly having a cylinder member pivotally connectable to the dipper stick and a rod member provided with an operatively connected second connecting pin rotatable relative thereto and receivable in the other of the implement recesses, and a pair of spacer links each disposed on a side of the dipper stick and spaced therefrom, operable to selectively maintain the connecting pins in retracted, inoperative positions permitting them to be maneuvered and inserted into or removed from the implement recesses, and in extended, inoperative positions within the implement recesses, detachably coupling the implement to the dipper stick, an adapter assembly generally consisting of at least one pair of bushings each mountable on one of the connecting pins between one of the dipper stick and the operative connection of one of the connecting pins to the rod member, and one of the spacer links, having a cross-sectional configuration receivable within one of the implement recesses.

Adapter assembly for an implement coupling system

An assembly for detachably coupling an implement to a machine having lift arms and a link cylinder generally consisting of a first component mounted on the implement and having a downwardly opening hook and a downwardly spaced spring biased latch element, and a second component including means for mounting the second component on the lift arms and tilt link of the machine, a connecting pin engageable with the hook on the first component allowing the first component to swing relative to the second component about an axis, a striker element engageable with the latch element in tripping relation when the connecting pin of the second component engages the hook of the first component and the first component is caused to swing toward the second component about the pivotal axis thereof, to position the striker between the latch element and a portion of the first component, and means for selectively depressing the latch element to permit the first component to swing away from the second component.

An assembly mountable on a machine consisting of an implement provided with opposed pin receiving recesses, a dipper stick connectable to the machine, a first connecting pin mounted in the dipper stick and receivable in one of the implement recesses, a support link pivotally connected to the dipper stick, an actuating link pivotally connected to the support link, a second connecting pin mounted in the actuating link and receivable in the other of the recesses, a base link rigidly connected to the second pin and detachably connectable to the first connecting pin and a fluid actuated assembly interconnecting the dipper stick and the support or actuating links whereby upon operation of the fluid actuated assembly, the pins will be caused to displace relative to each other to permit such pins to be inserted into and withdrawn from the implement recesses for coupling and uncoupling the implement relative to the dipper stick.

An assembly mountable on a dipper stick operatively connected to a machine, having a fluid actuated assembly, and connectable to an implement having at least one pair of opposed, connecting pin receiving recesses generally consisting of at least one spacer link including a pair of segments pivotally connected together and angularly displaceable relative to each other between retracted, inoperable and extended, operable positions, one of the link segments having a pin portion connectable to the dipper stick for pivotal open about its axis and receivable in one of the implement recesses and the other of the link segments having a pin portion operatively connectable to the fluid actuating assembly for pivotal movement about its axis and receivable in the other of the implement recesses, and a latch mounted thereon and cooperable with the one link segment when the segments are disposed in their extended, operative positions for releasably securing the link segments in their extended, operative positions.

Implement coupling assembly for excavating machines and the like

An attachment connectable to a boom member of a machine for performing work functions generally consisting of a handle pivotally connectable to a boom member of the machine, a ground engageable arm member pivotally connected to the handle and an extendable strut assembly interconnecting the handle and arm member consisting of a hydraulic cylinder assembly having a cylinder member pivotally connected to the handle and a rod member pivotally connected to the arm member, and including means intercommunicating the base and rod ends of the cylinder member, at least one electrically operable valve disposed in the intercommunicating means and operatively connectable to control means disposed on the machine, selectively operable to open the valve and permit the free flow of fluid between the base and rod ends of the cylinder member, and correspondingly the angular displacement of the arm member relative to the handle upon maneuvering the arm member by an operator of the machine, and to close and preclude the free flow of fluid between the base and rod ends of the cylinder member, and correspondingly the angular displacement of the arm member relative to the handle, and an accumulator selectively communicable with the variable volume chambers of the cylinder for compensating for the fluid volume differential of such chambers.

An assembly mountable on a maneuverable handle of a machine for performing various earth working and material handling functions generally consisting of a first implement pivotally mountable on the handle; a second implement pivotally mountable on the handle, cooperable with the first implement when the implements are mounted on the handle and angularly displaceable between extended, operable positions and a retracted, storage position; a bracket mountable on the handle, an extendable assembly operatively interconnecting the bracket and the second element; and devices disposed on the bracket engageable with the second implement for releaseably retaining the second implement in the storage position.

A material handling assembly mountable on the handle of a machine generally having a bucket pivotally connectable to the handle and a device for pivoting the bucket about the pivotal connection of the bucket to the handle, an arm member pivotally connectable to the handle and cooperable with the bucket when mounted on the handle for clamping material therebetween, a bracket mountable on the handle having a guideway therein, a strut having a first section pivotally connected to the arm member and a second section received within and displaceable along the guideway, and a device for detachably securing the second section of the strut to the bracket at selected points along the length of the guideway.

An assembly connectable to a boom of a machine operable to perform material working functions generally consisting of a handle connectable to the boom; a fluid actuated cylinder assembly operatively interconnecting the boom and handle for pivotally displacing the handle relative to the boom; a bucket member connected to the handle for pivotal movement along an arcuate line of travel between uncurled and curled positions; a fluid actuated cylinder assembly operatively interconnecting the handle and the implement for displacing the implement between uncurled and curled positions; a sifting member connected to the handle for pivotal movement along an arcuate path between retracted and extended positions, at least partially overlapping the arcuate path of the implement whereby when the sifting member is in the retracted position, the implement is in the curled position and the sifting member is displaced from the retracted position to the extended position, the sifting member will be caused to engage and displace the implement from the curled to the uncurled position, and a fluid actuated cylinder assembly for pivotally displacing the sifting member between the retracted and extended positions. Control means further is provided to operate the displacing means in causing the sifting member to be disposed in its retracted position, the implement to be displaced to its uncurled position, the implement to be displaced from its uncurled position to its curled position into engagement with the sifting member, the sifting member to be displaced from its retracted position to its extended position thereby displacing the implement to its uncurled position and the sifter to be displaced to its retracted position.

An assembly for coupling an implement to an operating arm of a machine generally consisting of a first component fixedly mountable on the implement, having an annular gripping surface, and a second component connectable to the operating arm having a pair of gripping members displaceable along a first line of travel into and out of gripping engagement with the gripping surface of the first component, and am actuator for selectively displacing the gripping members into and out of such gripping engagement, the first component having at least one pair of spaced abutment surfaces disposed in opposed relation to the gripping members for restricting displacement of the gripping members relative to the first component along a second line of travel intersecting the first line of travel and at least one abutment surface engageable by the gripping members for restricting displacement of the gripping members along the first line of travel for retaining at least a portion of the gripping members in opposed relation to the pair of abutment surfaces whereby the implement would be free to be displaced angularly relative to the second coupling component about the axis of the gripping surface and prevented from being fully separated relative to the second coupling component substantially along the second line of travel when the gripping members are out of gripping engagement with the gripping surface.

An assembly for coupling an implement to an operating arm of a machine generally consisting of a first component including a base section fixedly mounted on a wall portion of the implement and an annular flange section disposed on an upper end of the base section, and a second component connectable to the operating arm, including a base section disposable in coupling relation with the first component, a pair of gripping members disposed on the base section and displacable into and out of gripping engagement with the annular flange section of the first component when the components are disposed in coupling relation and an actuator for selectively displacing the gripping members into and out gripping engagement with the annular flange section of the first component, each of the gripping members having a recess for receiving a segment of the annular flange section therein, having an end wall surface engagable with an annular end wall surface segment of the annular flange section, in gripping engagement, and upper and lower opposed wall surfaces for receiving the segment of the annular surface section therebetween.
