A fluid supply system for a printing device is disclosed. The fluid supply system includes an ink reservoir adapting member operatively disposed within an ink cartridge. The adapting member has an open end and an end opposed to the open end. The open end is adapted to have a filter disposed thereon. The opposed end is substantially angularly offset from the open end in a manner sufficient to substantially promote fluid and air migration toward a fluid conduit. A depth between the open end and the opposed end substantially varies along a length between two opposed sides of the adapting member. A predetermined area of the opposed end defines the fluid conduit, and the predetermined area is located at a region where the depth is substantially greatest. Further, the conduit is adapted to release fluid and air from the adapting member.

Fluid supply system

An ink delivery system having at least one off-axis ink supply container and an on-axis printhead assembly. The on-axis printhead assembly includes at least one reservoir and a corresponding standpipe separated by a particle filter. At least one tube connects the off-axis ink supply container to the on-axis printhead assembly. A first valve is configured to selectively open a flow path between the tube and the reservoir. A second valve is configured to selectively open a flow path between the standpipe and the tube.

Ink delivery system and methods for improved printing

A printhead assembly includes a base having a pocket formed therein, a substrate having at least one fluid passage formed therethrough received within the pocket of the base, and a printhead die supported by the substrate and communicated with the at least one fluid passage of the substrate.

An ink delivery system having at least one off-axis ink supply container and an on-axis printhead assembly. The printhead assembly includes at least one reservoir and a corresponding standpipe separated by a particle filter. At least one tube connects the off-axis ink supply container to the printhead assembly. A first valve is configured to selectively open a flow path between the tube and the reservoir. A second valve is configured to selectively open a flow path between the standpipe and the tube.

A re-circulating fluid delivery system includes an air-fluid separator structure, a fluid plenum in fluid communication with the separator structure, and a free fluid reservoir. A fluid re-circulation path fluidically couples the separator structure, the fluid plenum and the free fluid reservoir. A pump structure re-circulates fluid through the re-circulation path during a pump mode, wherein air bubbles may be separated from re-circulated fluid.

Re-circulating fluid delivery systems

One embodiment of a fluid cartridge includes a fluid chamber including an interior for holding fluid and an exterior in communication with an ambient air pressure, and a pressure regulator aperture extending between the interior and the exterior of the fluid chamber, the pressure regulator aperture including a plurality of curved facets concave with respect to an elongate axis of the aperture.

A fluid ejection device includes a substrate having a first side and a second side opposite the first side, and a plurality of drop ejecting elements formed on the first side of the substrate. The substrate includes a first opening formed in the first side and a plurality of second openings formed in the second side with each of the second openings communicating with the first opening, wherein the second openings and the first opening are adapted to circulate fluid through the substrate.

Circulation through compound slots

A rejuvenation station has a housing with a first area adapted to hold a fluid supply, and a second area adapted to hold a printer cartridge. In the first area is a first fluidic interconnect that is adapted to couple with the fluid supply. In the second area is a second fluidic interconnect that is adapted to couple with the printer cartridge. A fluid path in the housing couples the fluidic interconnects. An actuator extracts fluid from at least one of the fluid supply and the printer cartridge, and inserts fluid into the printer cartridge through the fluid path.

Rejuvenation station and printer cartridge therefore

Techniques for improving reliability of print cartridges that employ a fluid recirculation path within the cartridges. One reliability feature is provided by active heat management, wherein the recirculation path is employed to provide printhead cooling. Another feature is an in-printer printhead and standpipe priming technique. Idle time tolerance can also be improved, with the ability to re-circulate ink and purge air, to provide a mode of operation that can improve the reliability of the print cartridge during idle times. A &ldquo;cleaning fluid&rdquo; can be introduced that could break-up the sludge as it circulates through the print cartridge. Improved particle filtering is provided, through fluid recirculating through the system, passing through the standpipe or plenum area and across the backside of the printhead. As the fluid moves through this region, particles trapped in the standpipe get swept out of the area and eventually through a filter before reaching the printhead again.

Fluid delivery techniques with improved reliability

A fluid delivery system and method, which employs a print head assembly (PHA) and an fluid supply for intermittent connection. A pump structure re-circulates fluid through the re-circulation path during a pump mode. The fluid supply includes a supply reservoir for holding a supply of fluid, and is connectable to the PHA to provide a fluid interconnect between the supply reservoir and the PHA fluid reservoir when a pressure differential between the PHA and the supply reservoir is sufficient to draw fluid into the PHA free fluid reservoir to replenish the fluid in the PHA fluid reservoir.

Off axis inkjet printing system and method

A fluid delivery system includes a print cartridge and a fluid supply. The print cartridge includes a housing structure, an air-fluid separator structure within the housing structure, including an air vent region in communication with the seperator structure. A fluid ejector is mounted to the housing structure, and a fluid plenum within the housing structure is in fluid communication with the fluid ejector. A fluid reservoir in the housing structures is in fluid communication with the plenum for supplying fluid to the plenum under negative pressure. A fluid re-circulation path is provided in the housing structure through the separator structure and the fluid plenum. A pump structure re-circulates fluid and air through the re-circulation path during a pump mode. The fluid supply is continuously or intermittently fluidically coupled to the fluid reservoir.
