Presented here is a system and method to record images having varying zoom levels using a lens having a substantially fixed zoom level. The resulting image can have varying zoom levels and can be of high quality. The light sensor recording the image can have a resolution higher than the desired resolution of the resulting image. The high resolution of the light sensor allows digital zooming, i.e., cropping of the image. The light sensor can operate in two modes, where each mode produces varying resolutions of the resulting image. Operating the light sensor in the mode producing a high resolution of the resulting image, however, does not produce images of satisfactory quality in low light conditions, and the light sensor may need to be switched between the first and the second mode depending on the zoom level and the lighting conditions.

A method for managing data communication of a mobile device in a mobile network is provided. The method may include receiving a request, at a cloud proxy, to retrieve Internet data from the Internet. The request may originate from an application, and the Internet data may have a plurality unique objects. The method may also include aggregating the Internet data and two or more of the unique objects from the Internet. Furthermore, the method may include forwarding the Internet data and the two or more unique objects to the mobile device in one transmission.

Cellular data communication for mobile devices

One or more mobile devices and a cloud server computing device are utilized to provide Internet access to one or more client computing devices. One of the clients is designated as a Wi-Fi access point. The Wi-Fi access point implements a reverse-infrastructure Wi-Fi mode which tethers available mobile devices and other clients to the access point. The cloud server periodically computes an optimal number of the mobile devices to be used for data striping, and transmits a webpage to a requesting client by striping data associated with the webpage across the optimal number of the mobile devices.

In general, the subject matter described in this specification can be embodied in methods, systems, and program products for monitoring application program resource consumption. Information that identifies consumption, by multiple computing devices and at requests of a particular application program, of resources that correspond to the computing devices is accessed. Each of the multiple computing devices provided a portion of the information. The accessed information is analyzed by a computing system to determine one or more values that identify consumption of the resources by at least a subset of the computing devices. An indicium that illustrates the one or more values is provided for display on a particular computing device and in cooperation with a display of a network-accessible application program software marketplace. The application program software marketplace provides application program software for execution by the particular computing device and other computing devices.

Monitoring application program resource consumption

An example computer-implemented method may include receiving, at a message server, a plurality of messages directed toward a plurality of computing devices, the plurality of messages including a first message directed toward a first user profile. A first computing device may be identified as being associated with the first user profile. It may be determined, by a computer processor, that the first user profile is inactive on the first computing device and that a second user profile is active on the first computing device. In that case, the first message may be held at the message server due to the first user profile being inactive. Other implementations of the messaging systems and methods are also disclosed herein.

The method can include receiving, at a server, one or more messages for transmission to a mobile device; storing the one or more messages at the server; receiving one or more radio status indicators from the mobile device; holding the one or more stored messages at the server until the received one or more radio status indicators include an indication of an active radio state in the mobile device; and transmitting the one or more held messages to the mobile device upon receiving an indication that the mobile device radio is in an active state.
