Disclosed autonomous mobile robot systems can be used to safely and efficiently navigate through a facility while avoiding objects in the path of the autonomous mobile robot during completion of a task. Specifically, a first bounded area based on first sensor data may be generated around an autonomous mobile robot where the first sensor data is used to identify objects in a travel path for the autonomous mobile robot and determine a speed for navigating the facility. A second bounded area of a size less than the first bounded area may be generated around the autonomous mobile robot based on speed information from propulsion components of the autonomous mobile robot. A new travel path and new speed information may be generated based on identifying an object in the travel path, dimensional measurements of a space around the object, and a current size of the second bounded area.

Dynamic navigation of autonomous vehicle with safety infrastructure

Systems and methods are provided herein for coordinating movement of components of a workspace utilizing a controller device. The controller device may operate in a first state. The computing device may be associated with an interaction area having a first access point and a second access point, wherein a light curtain is generated at the first access point. While operating in the first state, access to the interaction area is restricted. The computing device may transition to operating in a second state based at least in part on detecting the first breach, wherein operating in the second state comprises enabling access to the interaction area at the second access point. While operating in the second state, a second breach of the light curtain may be detected and at least one remedial action performed based on the detection.

Techniques for coordinating movement of components within a workspace

Systems and methods are provided herein for utilizing controller device within a workspace. The controller device may operate in a first state to monitor a light curtain associated with an interaction area of the workspace and to cause an indication of the first state to be presented at an indicator device associated with the interaction area. While operating in the first state, the controller device may detect a breach of the light curtain. The controller device may perform at least one remedial action based at least in part on detecting the breach of the light curtain while operating in the first state.

Coordinating tasks between mobile components utilizing intrusion detection

Disclosed autonomous mobile robot systems can be used to safely and efficiently navigate through a facility while avoiding objects in the path of the autonomous mobile robot during completion of a task. Specifically, a safety zone of a first size may be generated around an autonomous mobile robot based at least in part on first data from a first set of sensors associated with the autonomous mobile robot that are configured to identify an object within the safety zone. Information indicating a current speed of the autonomous mobile robot from associated propulsion components may be received and utilized to update the first size and a shape of the safety zone. Instructions to cease propulsion of the autonomous mobile robot may be transmitted to the propulsion components based on first data identifying the object within the updated first size of the safety zone.

Collision prevention for autonomous vehicles

Techniques for providing a signal processing feature in an inventory management system are described herein. For example, instructions may be received by a computer system of an autonomous vehicle that identify a path to move inventory within a materials handling facility. Further, the computer system of the autonomous vehicle may reduce a current traveling speed of the autonomous vehicle in response to receiving a first signal that is provided by a transmitter coupled with an entity moving within the materials handling facility. The first signal may be span a first distance. In embodiments, the computer system of the autonomous vehicle may stop movement of the autonomous vehicle in response to receiving a second signal provided by the transmitter coupled with the entity. The second signal may span a second distance from the entity that is less than the first distance.

Techniques for managing device interaction between components of an inventory management system are described herein. User input associated with an operational state of the user device may be received at the user device and the user device may begin operating in a particular operational state. While operating in this state, the user device may transmit a wireless signal having a predetermined frequency. A mobile drive unit of the system, upon receipt of the wireless signal, may slow or stop. Operational state information may be transmitted to other components of the inventory management system indicating that the wireless signal is being transmitted and/or that the user device is operating in a particular operational state and a fault detection process may commence. The user device may provide an indication (e.g., via visual, audible, and/or haptic feedback devices) that the user device is operating in the particular operational state.

Techniques for managing device interactions in a workspace

Techniques for providing an entity monitoring safety feature in an inventory management system are described herein. For example, instructions may be received by a computer system of an autonomous vehicle that identify a path to move inventory within a materials handling facility. Further, the computer system of the autonomous vehicle may reduce a current traveling speed of the autonomous vehicle in response to receiving a first signal that is provided by a transmitter coupled with an entity moving with the materials handling facility. The first signal may be provided up to a first distance from the entity. In embodiments, the computer system of the autonomous vehicle may stop movement of the autonomous vehicle in response to receiving a second signal provided by the transmitter coupled with the entity. The second signal may be provided up to a second distance from the entity that is less than the first distance.

A structure installed at a station can include an interference member held above a mobile drive unit area of the station. The interference member can be positioned to allow an inventory holder and a mobile drive unit to pass underneath. The interference member can also be positioned to contact a topside of the inventory holder to prevent the inventory holder from tipping into a worker area of the station that is adjacent to the mobile drive unit area.

Disclosed is an isolation mechanism and technique for packaging a MEMS transducer, such as a bulk acoustic wave gyroscope or accelerometer, to provide isolation from externally applied (or internally induced) stress, strain, vibration, shock and thermal transients. The disclosed methods and techniques enable the location of voids/air cavity/environmental isolations inside an encapsulant or over mold compound to be custom selected by treating at least a portion of the exterior surfaces of the MEMS device package with anti-stiction coatings to create opposing hydrophobic and hydrophilic conditions which during encapsulant and transfer molding steps create voids or air bubbles in the proximity of the anti-stiction coating due to the opposing water resistive characteristic of encapsulant.

A microelectromechanical (MEMS) package including a compressive system preferentially directs external forces, towards the MEMS sensor in a manner that affects several components of the Quality Factor (Q) of the MEMS system. Relatively rigid materials (force transfer elements) are added or deposited in strategic places along any of the edges, faces or corners of a MEMS sensor, followed by the addition of material, which by virtue of the annealing process, applies a compressive stress to all objects encased therein. As a result, vibrational modes are affected due to changes in the effective mass and spring constants of the total MEMS apparatus system, dampening particular modes and stabilizing the MEMS transducer since such modes cannot be spuriously activated due to environmental changes. By attenuating, or at least causing them to be constant, the spurious modes and their absorption of vibrational energy are predictable over all operating conditions and thus amenable to electronic controls, e.g., electrical compensation.
