Transaction data that represents transactions may be associated with one or more generated tags based on characteristics associated with the transactions. A set of suggested payment amounts for paying an account balance may be determined based on the tagged transactions. Information about at least one suggested payment amount may be presented at a user device.

The present technology improves points-of-interest (POIs) in applications by the gathering and use of data available from various sources to improve metadata of POIs in applications (e.g., map applications) or any other metadata or information that may be of interest to a user regarding any given POI. The present technology resolves transactions to POIs or Brands (in a map application, for example) and improves, updates, creates, and removes POls/Brands. The present technology can also gain a clear name, granular and correct categorization, a URL, phone/chat contact info, etc. of the transactions.

For example, a when a physical card is created and send to a user associated with a user account, information pertaining to the physical card, including its activation code can be stored in association with the user account. When the card is received by the user, the user can use a portable computing device to read the card, and the portable computing device can then automatically activate the card using information encoded within the card.
