According to various embodiments, an exhaust treatment system includes a catalyst that is in direct contact with an exhaust stream, at least one sensor that senses a system parameter and produces one or more signals corresponding to the system parameter, and a controller that is configured to receive the one or more signals and control catalyst performance based on the one or more signals by regenerating the catalyst. Regenerating the catalyst includes increasing a temperature of the exhaust stream flowing to the catalyst and directing a reductant injector to adjust a flow rate of reductant being injected into the exhaust stream flowing to the catalyst.

System and method for exhaust treatment

A catalyst system comprising a first catalytic composition comprising a homogeneous solid mixture containing at least one catalytic metal and at least one metal inorganic support. The pores of the solid mixture have an average diameter in a range of about 1 nanometer to about 15 nanometers. The catalytic metal comprises nanocrystals.

Catalyst and method of manufacture

A method of producing a catalyst composition is provided, the method comprising mixing (i) a first component comprising a zeolite, and (ii) a second component comprising a homogeneous solid mixture containing at least one catalytic metal and at least one metal inorganic support, wherein the first component and the second component form an intimate mixture, and wherein the homogeneous solid mixture is produced by mixing a reactive solution comprising a precursor of the metal inorganic support and a templating agent with a precursor of the catalyst metal, and calcining the mixture to form the homogeneous solid mixture. The templating agent affects one or more of pore size, pore distribution, pore spacing, or pore dispersity of the metal inorganic support. The pores of the solid mixture produced after calcination may have an average diameter in a range of about 1 nanometer to about 15 nanometers.

Manufacture of catalyst compositions and systems

Systems and methods for rejecting waste heat generated by one or more operating systems installed on an aircraft employ an endothermic fuel that can participate in endothermic catalytic cracking at temperatures below about 80&#xb0; C. when exposed to a cracking catalyst that contains a superacid operative to induce low-temperature catalytic cracking of the branched alkanes. The endothermic fuel contains an effective amount of the branched alkanes so that a net endothermic effect is realized when the fuel is exposed to the cracking catalyst. The low-temperature, heat-consuming cracking of the branched alkanes increases the heat sink capacity of the endothermic fuel.

Systems and methods for using an endothermic fuel with a high heat sink capacity for aircraft waste heat rejection

A heat sink is used to absorb heat produced by a vehicle. The heat sink uses an endothermic catalytic alcohol dehydrogenation reaction to assist with the absorption of excess heat produced in the electronics of the vehicle. In some embodiments, the alcohol can be pre-heated by absorbing heat from various components of the vehicle. Excess heat from the various components or from the vehicle engine can be used to vaporize the reaction fluids in order to further absorb additional heat. Reaction fluids can also be sent to the vehicle's engine/burner for use as a supplemental fuel.

Catalytic alcohol dehydrogenation heat sink for mobile application

A catalyst system comprising a first catalytic composition comprising a first catalytic material disposed on a metal inorganic support; wherein the metal inorganic support has pores; and at least one promoting metal. The catalyst system further comprises a second catalytic composition comprising, (i) a zeolite, or (ii) a first catalytic material disposed on a first substrate, the first catalytic material comprising an element selected from the group consisting of tungsten, titanium, and vanadium. A catalyst composition is provided comprising a homogeneous solid mixture having ordered directionally aligned tubular meso-channel pores having an average diameter in a range of about 1 nanometer to about 15 nanometers, wherein the homogeneous solid mixture is prepared from a gel formed in the presence of a solvent, modifier, an inorganic salt precursor of a catalytic metal, an inorganic precursor of a metal inorganic network, and a templating agent. The NOx catalyst is disposed to receive both the exhaust stream and reductant stream. The sensor is disposed to sense a system parameter related to carbon loading of the catalyst and produce a signal corresponding to the system parameter. The controller is disposed to receive the signal and to control dosing of the reductant stream based at least in part on the signal. The method includes sensing a system parameter related to carbon loading of a catalyst, producing a signal corresponding to the system parameter and sending the signal to a controller; and controlling a dosing of a reductant stream based at least in part on the signal.
